Thanks to Karin Smyth, Minister of State for Health, for wishing AHPs a very happy Allied Health Professions day.
Allied health professionals, across 14 professions, deliver better patient outcomes and better value for money all over the health and care system.

CSP calls for continuity on health reform in Northern Ireland
'We look forward to working constructively with the incoming Health Minister Robbie Butler MLA, who has been a longstanding and valued supporter of the CSP and the Community Rehabilitation Alliance in Northern Ireland, and has consistently recognised the importance of rehabilitation, physiotherapy and the wider allied health professions.
'The CSP will continue to make the case for evidence-led reform, a sustainable health and care workforce, and greater investment in prevention, community rehabilitation and services closer to people’s homes.
'Delivering meaningful transformation, however, cannot rest with the Health Minister alone. It will require collective support and commitment across the Executive, with decisions about the future of health and social care taken transparently, informed by clinical evidence and workforce realities, and with proper regard to equality, access and the needs of local communities.'

The advanced practice role/title itself lacks separate statutory regulation, protected title status, and profession-specific regulatory standards.

Longer waits, more lives on hold, cuts to rehab services are incompatible with an agenda that is about living care out of hospital and into the community.
