This situation was never about Kelly or celebrity status; it was about a customer.
A reputable business should treat every individual with equal respect regardless of their background or financial standing.
Presuming a customer's budget, changing your demeanor based on perceived wealth, or making someone feel unwelcome is completely unacceptable. Every customer should feel valued when entering your establishment.
Let's also stop acting like Art of Play's owners are ordinary small business owners. They come from a wealthy, successful background, and the prices of their products speak volumes about their targeted customers. 99% of the world’s population can’t afford a $15k singing bird.
I wouldn’t know what #KellyClarkson looked like if she walked in my home with a shirt on saying I’m Kelly Clarkson. Heard of her…. but wouldn’t recognize her. Another celebrity living in their own bubble. #Brooklyn 🐦

I need people to give this kind of obsession when she releases new music.
Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me. Wow, dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale. But y’all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman. For sure, check it out 👎

What I’m about to write is incredibly stupid, has no social value, and is silly. I just want to make everyone aware of that. But, since the moron in Brooklyn has decided to leverage his media contacts for marketing, and change his story 11 times to get people into his store, while disparaging a genuinely good person in show business, I figured it’s time. 🧵

Y'all the Kelly Clarkson cctv footage dropped and not only is Kelly very clearly telling the truth, she walks around the store and puts the multiple items she planned to purchase back where she found them.
If you've worked one shift in retail you know how rare that is for anyone, let alone an upset customer.
We need this iconic duo to work again with each other ! @kellyclarkson @lifeofT @jasonhalbert @missindepodcast

I like that with all these different statements from them, not one has denied that they were rude to her
This might be the weirdest niche story of the month lmfao 😭 Today, the owner of Art of Play in Brooklyn Heights spoke with us about his viral feud with Kelly Clarkson.
It all started when Clarkson tweeted that a store employee was rude to her and treated her like she couldn’t afford a $15,000 mechanical singing bird.
Her tweet has since racked up over 40 million views, sparking a back-and-forth between the two. The store insists the bird was never for sale, while Clarkson shared a photo of its price tag and accused the owner of lying.
Who’s in the wrong here? 👀 🫣😂😂😂😂

This is the FOURTH TIME the store’s story has changed by the way, now she yelled at them??? Right right
The owner of Brooklyn's Art of Play store speaks out in new interview to share what Kelly Clarkson allegedly yelled at shop clerks. Plus he explains the bird's price tag and why it's not actually for sale.

This guy keeps changing his stories.
This guy is proving AGAIN, why Kelly was always right. What a fucking douchebag.
Hi @kellyclarkson I talked to Art Of Play co-owner Adam Rubin who wants to send you this message in part “We hold no ill will against Kelly Clarkson, we invite her to come back and enjoy the store. But, we find her gross abuse of power completely reprehensible, and she should face social consequences.” @1010WINS let us know if we can interview you to follow-up.
People love to hate on Kelly whenever there’s an opportunity and there’s not one often. But here you go, have fun while it lasts and she’ll just continue being loved and successful.

MY SHOW IS ON AGAIN
I think the manager or whoever talked to Kelly must be the same one manning the Instagram. You can tell she wasn't lying about the attitude
Another update from Art of Play, the Brooklyn store Kelly Clarkson criticized on Saturday in a viral tweet.
Check my timeline for the previous back-and-forth.

ALT Screenshot of @artofplay’s statement about Kelly Clarkson’s Saturday visit. The store says she spent five minutes there and asked about Molly, a mechanical bird puppet permanently attached to the wall. It says Seattle artist Bliss Kolb owns a nearly identical automaton and would sell it for $15,000, and that staff explained this to Clarkson. The store also says it offered to show her a German-made singing-bird automaton costing about $2,000 that she could take home that day, but she left before seeing it. Art of Play says it has contacted her directly, wishes her well and hopes they can laugh about the misunderstanding.
