Very proud of the @sharewashted team for their hard work in publishing research from their Hygienic Family project but also for recognising and promoting the importance of their #handwashing #behaviourchange work in the current #COVID19 pandemic
Replying to @sharewashted

As we start to see increasing #COVID19 cases in #Malawi, here's our recent paper which highlighted the key behavioural determinants that can be targeted to improve #handwashing, and the tools we developed to promote handwashing in low income settings @StrathCivEng @SHAREresearch
Take a read of this new paper from our Safe Start project on the process of designing a food hygiene intervention in the low-income, peri-urban context of Kisumu, Kenya bit.ly/2UOh3bV
Such evidence shows the importance of tackling #diarrhoealdisease with multiple interventions. One SHARE project in Nepal has delivered joint immunisation and hygiene programmes to holistically improve child health bit.ly/2xBZrqP @OmPrasadGautam @val23curtis @DefeatDD
#VaccinesWork during times of humanitarian crises. A 2012 study by @SaadOmer3 and all showed routine use of #rotavirus vaccine would have averted nearly 25% of deaths due to #diarrhea in Somali children under one. 💉

#COVID2019 shows just how important #handwashing is. Many of SHARE's projects have focussed on #behaviourchange to encourage handwashing. Take a look though some of them here: shareresearch.org/research-t…✋💦

Our national dissemination starts with Mr Kafanikhale of Malawi Ministry of Health highlighting that #WASH and #foodsafety are key components of the national environmental health strategy. Key components of our intervention. @SHAREresearch @StrathCivEng #dissemination

This day reminded me of why I do what I do. It was a fun day with the landlords of Bauleni compound.
We think it's hugely important to disseminate research findings back to the communities who were involved. @cidrzinfo did just that at the end of last year with their community meetings in Lusaka. Take a look at the leaflet they gave out to whose who came bit.ly/39QLTpd
