Based on the symptoms, it seems like the developers have not implemented Legacy Controller Support in this title. Because many controllers using the GP2040 firmware authenticate as PS4 fightsticks on PS5, this causes the error seen.

@avatar_fighters Hey, no leverless compatability at launch with no clear warning is extremely rough. Are there plans to fix this in the future? I'm dyspraxic and struggle heavily with motion inputs on a gamepad.

Otherwise, these devices remain technically compatible and this is a case of the developer not implementing a solution for the arbitrarily created problem of console controller authentication. Fortunately developers have patched this into other fighting games before.
