This is really important... Please read. About a year ago, my husband and I noticed he was having some troubling health issues. Lacking Canadian medical insurance, my husband sought the help of a private clinic. The clinic was unprofessional and ignorant of the symptoms that ailed him. They misdiagnosed my husband with something entirely unrelated. Months later. as his condition worsened, we sought the help of the local hospital. After several tests, they quickly diagnosed my husband with germ cell cancer. It had spread to five areas, including the kidneys, bones, lungs, and a large mass on his torso. He was quickly rushed to a larger hospital and put into emergency surgery, where they installed a "double-J tube" in one of his kidneys and removed the initial source of the cancer. For days he was closely monitored in intensive care, hour by hour tests were conducted, and doctors worked hard to stabilize him. We later found out that if we had not brought him to the hospital at that time he wouldn't have survived the week, as his organs were shutting down. His condition has since stabilized, and chemotherapy has been going well as signs of his tumor burden are going down. In fact, one of the "J bypass" tubes in his kidney was removed! It has not been easy for him both emotionally and physically. The amazing oncology team at this hospital is doing great work, and with their help they say we're looking towards a possible total cure. But the costs for the surgery, chemo, and hospital stay are adding up fast and are far higher than we had anticipated. This is where you come in, dear reader.
