One of two Teal at Swannie Ponds, Dundee today. Not a particularly common visitor there (likely due to lack of cover), and this one actually swam closer, which is fairly unusual as they tend to be very wary ducks.

Been a long time since I last saw a Devil's Coach Horse Beetle, so was nice to spot this one at The Esplanade, Broughty Ferry today, which posed nicely, rather than scurrying into the dunes.

Found this hoverfly at the Law today - didn't look like one I've seen before and iNaturalist reckons it is Sericomyia silentis - though the Law doesn't seem like typical habitat for the species and it is also quite late in the season for them.

Birdforum had a revamp (lovely & cluttered now with actual forums shunted down page), & have shut down 'blogs' forum - where I posted links to my blog-posts to an audience of folk interested in birds (rather than more diverse audience on here). Not impressed. 😒

Rather ironically, the Birdforum forums now appear to be deemed the least important part of the site - based on the new layout (with the Gallery, Opus, Games(!) etc now taking precedence).

However having looked at the stats on my blog it is likely that I only gain around 10% or less of my (fairly limited) views to any blog-post via Birdforum. The potential audience rarely clicks - regardless of where I share a link.

Birda did something similar. I used to post links to new blog-posts on there to an audience of birders (or all abilities/levels of interest) but they decided to put a stop to sharing links & I no longer had any reason to visit/interact with other's posts.

Decent aurora display happening now.

Opinions sought (please) for these 2 skuas seen distantly in poor light recently. Now think they MIGHT be Arctics, but could be Poms or even LTS depending on which photo is being looked at. (Merlin suggests Bonxie for some pics, but I'm pretty certain they aren't Bonxies).
