Correction! This was confirmed as the gypsum treatment that was showing improvement, not biochar. That makes two years in a row for a response to gypsum at our site.
This gypsum treatment has resulted in a large yield benefit and the data has been sent to @PulsePathSWSK for analysis. Sorry for the misidentification.
Correction!
We discovered during compilation of data that this was the gypsum treatment, not the biochar. Embarassing but not too late to correct the dataset as it is analysed.
We got a smaller response to the gypsum last year at our site as well. The yield differences from this gypsum was huge and has been sent to @PulsePathSWSK for analysis.
Yesterday was a very busy day at the farm with over 400 plots harvested. We're over 85% with mostly soybeans left to go.
Back to combining! We take stuff off rather wet because it's all in cloth or mesh bags. It goes on air dry decks for a couple days then we clean, weigh and moisture test it.
Today we're working on equipment, processing samples, collecting soil and biomass samples, and checking staging on soybeans.
We've had over 16 inches of rain, and 11 imches is our normal for the season.
Plot Yields: Everything is quite high with a few exceptions for root rot. We've never had barley yields this high. Oats will be 150-200bu/ac.
I haven't seen canola crops look better anywhere in my travels this summer than around home.
This SpraCoupe we bought is getting worked on while we can't get in the field with equipment. Can still use it for fall burnoff but needs some unplugging and ?? to get it actually spraying.
