I've been doing SEO for almost 15 years.
And my team and I have gotten results for 100+ ecom brands.
These are 10 SEO mistakes I see over and over (and what to do instead): 🧵
#1: Stop focusing so much on technical SEO.
It’s really easy to grow a site’s overall organic traffic.
The hard part is growing traffic that actually converts into sales.
I’ve seen a brand getting 100,000 clicks a month from organic search, and almost none of it converted.
It was the wrong type of traffic.
So don’t judge an SEO campaign by how much traffic it’s driving.
Judge it by how much revenue it’s driving.

I took a card game brand from $15.8k to $47.3k/month in organic revenue.
It took 12 months.
The founder already had a decent grasp of SEO, and the site was technically clean.
But competitors with worse websites and less authority were still outranking them.
The issue?
Their product category pages were buried deep within the website's architecture and essentially hidden from Google.
So the first thing I did was add them to the main navigation menu.
That alone took them from unranked to just a few spots off the 1st page of Google.
Then I added keyword-optimized content to each product category page.
Every month, I also built 7 backlinks and published 3 supporting blog posts that internally linked to those pages.
All of that moved the brand into the top-3 spots for keywords like:
> pokemon cards
> pokemon singles
> japanese pokemon cards
And their organic traffic went up 194%.
After 15+ years doing SEO, the biggest lesson I've learned is that 90% of success comes down to doing the fundamentals correctly.
