We know that spending time in nature and connecting with our communities is essential to sustaining the work we love. For Mital, a member of our Talent team, those moments are found at Mill Race Park in Cambridge, ON. Built around the historic ruins of the C. Turnbull Textile Mill, this scenic riverside park features a stone amphitheater, picnic areas, seasonal concessions, and beautiful views of the Grand River. “The park offers beautiful views of the Grand River and is ideal for peaceful walks.” What’s your favourite local park? #CareLivesHere #SEHealth #PeopleEverything #HopeAndHappiness #MoreThanYouThink

As we approach the end of October, we are feeling nostalgic for those long, warm days spent enjoying our favourite summer local gems. For Audrey, a Recreation Therapist at Bow River Lodge, summer meant soaking up the beauty of Canmore, a stunning mountain town in the heart of the Rockies where she’s been proud to live and work for the past 27 years. “This summer I taught my puppy, Bingo, to swim and paddle board with me. It took a few tries and plenty of treats, but Bingo has become the perfect paddle board companion. It’s our favourite way to cool off after work on those hot summer days.” What summer gem are you missing right now? #CareLivesHere #SEHealth #PeopleEverything #HopeAndHappiness #MoreThanYouThink

Local gems don’t always have to be places, sometimes, they’re experiences. For many Canadians, that means engaging in our national winter pastime: hockey! For Rose, a member of our Talent Team, her local gem is anywhere she’s with her family — and as a proud hockey family, that often means time spent at the rink (even in the summer!). Home of the Jaguars, Rose enjoys spending time at her local arena in Richmond Hill. “This is my favourite view, and I’ll never get tired of it — watching my husband coach our son. It’s an unbreakable bond, and I have front-row seats.” What’s activity is your favourite gem? #CareLivesHere #SEHealth #PeopleEverything #HopeAndHappiness #MoreThanYouThink

Today, we’re joining the Ontario Community Support Association in celebrating Respite Services Day — recognizing the vital role respite plays in strengthening our communities. Respite care plays a vital role in supporting caregivers, offering them time to rest, recharge, and care for themselves while ensuring their loved ones continue to receive quality care. At SE Health, we’re committed to creating innovative solutions that make care more accessible. Through our Respite for All pilot, we’re proud to support working caregivers by providing flexible, compassionate respite care that help balance work and caregiving responsibilities. Today and every day, we extend our gratitude to caregivers for their incredible dedication and resilience. #RespiteServicesDay #CommunitySupportMonth #SEHealth #MoreThanYouThink #Caregivers #RespiteCare

Often, the best local gems are the ones filled with memories and nostalgia. For Nancy, an RN Educator at SE Health, that gem is her family’s trailer of more than 35 years near Port Franks, Ontario. Nancy’s father had many passions — two of which were anything to do with the outdoors and camping. “My fondest memories are of when we camped,” Nancy shares. “We would go for a week or two, several times a year, staying in a tent or a pop-out trailer.” Over 35 years ago, an opportunity came for Nancy’s father to purchase two boxcars. With creativity and hard work, her parents transformed one of them into a camping trailer — complete with all the comforts of home, even air conditioning. Over the years, countless hours of work and love went into this family treasure. Nancy’s parents were so proud to have built it entirely themselves. “Every time we go to our ‘boxcar trailer,’ we feel peace, happiness, and a deep bond with each other. We share stories of laughter and tears, preserving this family legacy through connection. Three generations have enjoyed this special gem. My father would be so pleased that we continue to enjoy his oasis.” What’s your family’s local gem? #CareLivesHere #SEHealth #PeopleEverything #HopeAndHappiness #MoreThanYouThink

In Canada, Nurses and PSWs need access to reliable transportation. That’s why we are partnering with @AlternaSavings, a member-owned Canadian credit union, to launch the SE Micro-Lending Pilot. Our first use case is car-loan support for our home and community teams. This low-interest microloan with budget-friendly payments helps our travelling staff stay focused on care. #FutureOfWork #HomeCare #Nurses #PSW #HealthcareWorkers #FinancialWellbeing #Microloans #SocialImpact #Partnership #SEHealth #AlternaSavings

October is the perfect time to get outside and explore local gems. For Veronica, a member of our talent team, that special place is Golden Ears Park, in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Golden Ears Park is where Veronica and her family go to recharge and connect with nature. From serene forest trails to scenic views, it’s the perfect spot for hiking, picnicking, or simply soaking in the beauty of the outdoors. “We enjoy quality time together, with kids especially loving the water and sand play areas. Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, SE Health is wearing orange and reaffirming our commitment to raising awareness of the intergenerational impacts of residential schools. Reconciliation is not a single day, but an ongoing journey of learning, reflection, and action. Guided by our First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Program Team, and rooted in our vision for healthier communities where all people can thrive, we continue to advance the Calls to Action and amplify Indigenous voices. As a not-for-profit social enterprise, we are committed to honouring survivors, remembering the children who never returned home, and standing with Indigenous communities in the spirit of healing and understanding. Together, we believe progress happens when people and communities unite in compassion and purpose. We encourage everyone to take time today to reflect, learn, and engage in meaningful ways. #NationalDayForTruthAndReconciliation #TruthAndReconciliation #EveryChildMatters #SEHealth #PeopleEverything #HopeAndHappiness
