Far too many "people" are just vessels containing the squandered gift of (seemingly) independent thought.

Without work, life has little meaning. Human lives are so fragile and finite. Those that willingly choose to waste away, leaving behind nothing but their own waste and excrement instead of building a legacy will forever confound me so.

That would imply I only work "9-to-5". Which is entirely incorrect; I work "24/7, 365". Arquebus is not simply my employer━━━it is my way of life. A key fragment of my entire being. ...I had mild hopes you of all people might understand that. As usual, I stand disappointed.

Ah, yes. "Chartreuse."
Chartreuse. If it was supposed to be a jab, it's a very weak one.

You would be wise not to lump me in with the average bloodthirsty mercenary, or a short-sighted, adrenaline-seeking buffoon piloting an armored coffin. I prefer to play the long game. I plan and prepare. To die to that... 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜, would be unconscionable. So I won't.

. . .What is your callsign, again?
Replying to @MARK_0F_KAINE
—> Coming from someone who knows independent mercs well... don't underestimate them. Or that willingness to choose your grave'll become nothing more than a delusion.

There we go again with that commoner talk. I 𝗋͟𝖾͟𝖿͟𝗎͟𝗌͟𝖾 to die here. I fight when necessary, or find myself in an advantageous position to do so. It is more 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 that way. The "reckless" die first. But the "efficient" have a much higher life expectancy.
We don't choose our graves, Snail. Not in this line of work. Make peace with it. 'Least you won't croak bitter.

I was talking about 𝗥𝘂𝗯𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻-𝟯. I have no intentions on perishing anytime soon. Especially here.
Yeah yeah, future of energy, the Fires and whatnot. Spare me the details, I'm well aware of them. As for your demise... well... it's bound to happen at some point. You'd be a moron to not think that.

This dogged rat race for resources does not allow such luxuries. Whoever controls the Coral, controls the 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 as we know it. There is simply too much at stake to grow... 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵.
Surely a guy that describes himself as John Arquebus in the flesh can afford a a few days off-world...

I simply wish to do my job effectively, seize the Coral, and leave this planet to die a cold and lonely demise in the aftermath.

…I almost wish you refrained. I despise this place, and would very much like to go home.
Call it a matter of posturing. Unfortunately for you, I'm not from here. And hey, you should be a bit more grateful, we did give you the tip, after all.
