Laura’s project @gloshospitals looked at energy wastage due to inappropriately leaving scavenging turned on…and so switching the default to OFF
Across 20 theatres this will save:
♻️19543kg CO2e a year (the equivalent of driving a car 88,000 miles!!)
= £27,000 a year saved!💰

With the support of @RCoANews & @Assoc_Anaes, @NHSEngland has committed to stop the use of desflurane - an environmentally harmful anaesthetic - by early 2024. Great news for patients & the planet, with clinically safe alternatives already widely in use.
