The new issue of ⁦@SDMagazine⁩ informs me that South Dakotans may have the opportunity to hear a recording of my book being read aloud by a prison inmate — or the opportunity to bypass my book in favor of the local fire department’s meeting minutes.

My Dad is reading “Steamboats in Dakota Territory” (which I will be reading soon.) Allegedly there is another steam boat between Gayville and Vermillion. Anyone know the location?

Observed "Fata Morgana" this morning just East of the Black hills along the horizon. A temperature inversion acts like a lens, and flips the landscape. On occasion, this allows the viewer to actually see whats -over- the horizon. Here, we're looking at the badlands! @NWSRapidCity

On this day in 1937, the Abraham Lincoln figure was dedicated on Mount Rushmore. More than 5,000 people attended the event, which included the 4th Cavalry at Fort Meade Band and the Homestake Mining Company Band playing "The Star-Spangled Banner."
