Tracy Wolfson is an excellent sideline reporter, and this is one of the better postgame interviews you'll see. You never know which Aaron Rodgers you're going to get, but he does a great job here.
I know people are quick to dismiss postgame interviews as not worth the time, but I loved hearing from Rodgers here. He took time to credit his teammates, answered in depth and thoughtfully, and it’s good TV. And sports are a TV show.

I think Dan is a bit arrogant here to judge a player’s decision here. The right decision is whatever the player and his family decide is right for them.
Mason Miller and Max Fried have kids due imminently. Miller takes paternity leave and ditches the Padres. Fried stays with Yankees and ditches his wife. What do you think is the right call? As a dad of two, both via emergency C-section (put under), I think Fried is selfish.

Rivalry week is here 4 @LindenwoodFB as we welcome SEMO 2 St. Charles. I have been told, tix sales are pacing ahead of the game 2 years ago. I have also been told that St. Charles residents have been driving those sales. This is not just another game! Help spread the word!

When you’re so immersed in a sport that you forget that there are people who don’t watch that sport. If Taylor Swift and Travis Tritt played St. Louis same night, some people would go see Travis Tritt. It’s not that big a surprise.
I'm honestly not sure how to take this other than wow do we have a problem in STL if a November CBB game - between anybody - is viewed as a bigger event locally than an MLS Cup final w/@stlCITYsc in it. Baseline: we in STL cannot call ourselves a soccer city, capital or anything if we're saying that a November college basketball game is a bigger sporting event than one of our 3 professional teams playing in a winner-take-all game for a championship. I love Ben & the folks at the Post Dispatch. I'm also a HUGE Mizzou fan living in STL - anybody who knows me knows how much I love my Tigers. And it's objectively a big deal to play SLU again. But c'mon. In my opinion, the absolute shade being thrown on CITY for an argument to be made that MIZ/SLU in November > CITY in MLS Cup is wild.

I lean conservative on many issues. I’d guess the majority of Missourians do, too. It’s cowardly, arrogant and cruel to assume that entitles us to completely disenfranchise those who see the world differently than we do. Shame on the Missouri GOP.
I’m incredibly disappointed in the Supreme Court’s decision to block the Missouri First Map. It’s the map that actually reflected our ruby-red state. The lines don’t change the mission. I’ll keep fighting for every family in Missouri’s 4th. 37 days. Let’s get to work. 🇺🇸

What an odd cause for a MLB player to take up. Seems like an attention grab. I’d imagine a lot of Miz’s strikeouts would still be strikeouts at 99 rather than 103, too. I’ve never seen it analyzed because…So what?
From ChatGPT I watched the uploaded clip frame-by-frame. This is a much tighter calculation than I expected. The overlay confirms Winn’s throw was 99.8 mph and the runner was moving 30.3 ft/sec. The important thing is that we don’t need to redo the runner’s entire home-to-first time—we can hold Winn’s release point and the runner’s position at release constant and ask how much additional flight time the throw could tolerate. From the first-base replay, my estimate is that the ball beats the runner by roughly 0.10–0.15 seconds. There’s some frame uncertainty because the video is ~30 fps and the exact instant the runner touches first is partially obscured. Using the actual 99.8-mph throw as the baseline, that puts the break-even velocity approximately in the low-to-mid 80s. My best estimate: ~84–86 mph is the slowest he could throw it and still get the out. At about 85 mph, I think it becomes essentially a bang-bang play. At 82–83, I think the runner is probably safe. At 90 mph, he should still be out with a little room. So if the question is “what’s the lowest velocity where I’d still bet on the out?” I’d call it ~86 mph. If we’re looking for the mathematical break-even point where ball and foot arrive essentially simultaneously, I’d estimate ~84–85 mph. And that really puts the 99.8 into perspective: he probably had ~14–15 mph of velocity to spare despite the runner going 30.3 ft/sec. If you want, I can go one level deeper and calculate it frame-by-frame using the actual release frame, catch frame, estimated throw distance, and runner’s distance from first at release. That should get us within ~1–2 mph.

Josh Allen reveals he had zero scholarship offers coming out of high school so he sent 1,000 emails with his highlights attached to every coach in the country, only two responded “The email said something like, Hey, I’m Josh Allen. I’m 6’5”, 220 pounds. I feel like I’d be a great fit for your program. Here’s my Hudl. These are my stats… I literally just went copy, paste, copy, paste and sent it to every single coach I could find an email for.” “I played in a small town called Firebaugh, California. I had zero offers out of high school. I had no preferred walk-ons. A couple Division III schools were trying to give me academic scholarships so I could go play there, but I didn’t want to make my parents pay for me to go somewhere.” “So I went the junior college route. I felt like I was good enough to play, which is obviously why I kept going. I wanted to go to junior college, earn a scholarship and kind of pay my family back for everything they had done for me.” “I also played football, basketball and baseball. I was a three-sport guy, so I didn’t spend my summers going around to every quarterback camp. I got the chance to play different sports, feel different emotions, meet different types of people and learn how to deal with all of it.” “I think that’s something a lot of kids need to continue doing, play more sports. Every sport teaches you something that you can ultimately use later in life.”

San Diego residents complaining about the weather is roughly the equivalent of Warren Buffett complaining his social security check isn't enough.
The past month has been the most unenjoyable stretch of San Diego weather I’ve experienced in my time here. Humid. Hot. I know, I know. It’s not THAT hot. We’re lucky. But still…it’s not great.
