This Two Ronnies sketch was never televised originally (it appeared many years later), but I’ve no idea why. It was written by Ronnie Barker, under the pseudonym Gerald Wiley, and for my money it gives Four Candles a run for it’s money. Seriously, if I’d written something this good I’d just retire immediately.
What a talent!
Good morning.

🇬🇧 The Dame of Sark
On 10 May 1945, a small British delegation of three officers arrived on the small island of Sark in the Channel Islands to take the German surrender.
Sibyl Hathaway, the feudal lady of the island, was present and the officers asked her if, as they were short of men, if she would take command of the 275 men of the German garrison.
Lieutenant Colonel K. Allen asked her if she could manage a few days without British troops. Her answer was.... “As I have been left for nearly five years,” she said, “I can stand a few more days.”

This year the feast day of St George falls on 28 April 2025.
Why will the Church celebrate St George’s Day on a different day this year?🤔

ALT St George’s Day: Along with many other churches, we don't keep saints’ days during Easter Week. When St George’s Day or St Mark’s Day falls between Palm Sunday and the Second Sunday of Easter inclusive, it is transferred to the Monday after the Second Sunday of Easter. If both fall in this period, St George’s Day is transferred to the Monday and St Mark’s Day to the Tuesday. That means that this year, St George's Day falls on 28 April 2025.

On Good Friday, we remember God’s suffering on the cross.
For all those who suffer today in mind, body or spirit, we pray they would know the closeness of God – and His promise that even despair can be healed.

Maundy Thursday, a day when we remember the Last Supper and the New Commandments Jesus gave to his disciples.
To love one another, to serve in humility, and to remember him through bread and wine.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.” (John 13:34)
