Come join us for the Big Kent Bird Migration Day at Dungeness Bird Observatory! There will be lots going on, with a guided walk, visible migration watches, seawatching and hopefully bird ringing if the weather allows. We hope to see you there! #kentbirding
Bit of shock when stepping out onto the mud at Lade Sands for some ring reading to stumble into this Kentish Plover! As I have been slogging that beach for one, it might just be my entry to the #PWC2026 January to June Best Find comp. Please get your entries in by 7th July!

We are really look forward to seeing all the entries for this spring comp. For more information on entering your find, take a look at the website here: patchworkchallenge.blogspot.…

We are still requiring a lot of descriptions from 2025, so in a bid to try and obtain these descriptions, we have posted this thread with a list of what is required. If you found any of these birds, please click this link to see what you need to do: ynu.org.uk/recording-section…
ALT A flock of Glossy Ibises migrating past Spurn this autumn, taken by Thomas Willoughby. We have 33 records of Glossy Ibis that still need descriptions sending in, including Yorkshire's biggest ever flock with 16 over Sheffield.
It was great to be back on the @DungenessBO patch over the last couple of weeks in February for #PWC2026. The highlights being picking up a couple of goodies in the form of Red-necked and Slavonian Grebe. Now on 71/85. Would be great to get more Observatories in the league!
If you can, then please do donate to help keep the only surviving Little Tern colony in the whole of Yorkshire protected. This is from threats like Foxes, Crows, Dogs and even people. Every little bit of money helps.
To donate, please follow this link: gofund.me/03cfcd40a
Help save the Beacon Ponds Little Tern project! The colony is in desperate need for funds to make sure that it is protected this coming breeding season. This colony is very close to me as I have spent many hundreds if not thousands of hours working day and night to protect it...

in previous years. The colony has gone from strength to strength in recent seasons, so we must keep the protection going. They only need to gather 10k in funds to employ a warden to help do that. For more info and to donate, please follow this link: gofund.me/31d302f20

We have updated the list of birds requiring descriptions in Yorkshire as of 1st January 2026. Please take a look and remember to send in descriptions to county records or the YNURC secretary as soon as possible. Thank you and best of luck for 2026! ynu.org.uk/recording-section…
Tomorrow is likely to be the most gruelling Michael Clegg bird race that I will have ever done with minus temps, strong winds and potential for snow/rain! Starting on the Humber bank at Welwick at dawn and then ending at Spurn in the evening, with all ground covered by walking.
So make sure you donate to Yorkshire Swifts by following this GoFundMe: gofund.me/81fedb827 Thank you!
