Rebounding gets easier when every player knows one job. Here's how we organize it: Chasers: no box out, go get the ball. Spacers: check your man and read where the ball is going. Eraser: take your matchup completely out of the play. One job, zero excuses. Then measure it. Your defensive rebounding percentage tells you if the jobs are working. Good Erase example 👇

🏀Where should your bigs run in transition? Give your two bigs different jobs. Rabbit (your faster big): rim run. If you can't get behind the defense for a layup, sit on the porch (short corner) opposite the ball. Dragon (your slower big): trail the play outside the arc. Ideally someone who can catch, dribble, and make a decision. If there's no layup or open three in the first 7 seconds, flow into the high post. Now both bigs arrive in shape for high-low without stopping to reset. Credit to @coachneighbors, who built the transition side of this and created the Dragon role at Washington for a player who wasn't fast.

Your players need a response to mistakes before the mistake happens. Ours is simple: tap your chest, own it, and get to the next play. Accountability should help players respond better.

Before you ask what play to run, ask what the possession needs. 🔴 Disadvantage: protect the ball and get back to good spacing. 🟠 Neutral: use an action or movement to create an advantage. 🟡 Small advantage: keep the ball moving to expand your advantage 🟢 Big advantage: Find and finish it. Teams who can read the defense need fewer play calls.
