University presidents & other community members need to take action against individuals who participate in behaviors that create an unsafe campus. Students & staff are not comforted by mere words on a mass-email / post. They want to see that the leadership is pissed. #SAGradchat – at Farmers Branch, TX

A4 Reaching out to those on Twitter and having an open dialogue without being too political. In today's #highered, it's about advocacy or activism, but it can't be both. We also must meet the needs of those persons affected by violence. #SAGradChat #selfcare

FQ Add #selfcare to your daily life. Remember, #highered is an 24/7 role, not just in the office, but it's how you conduct yourself outside of the office that defines you. #SAGradChat #SAGrad

Every SAPro should have their own philosophy of diversity/inclusion & that philosophy should present itself when they are creating programs & interacting with students. One should strive to integrate the institution’s mission & their own ideology seamlessly #SAGradchat

A4 The need for more open voices that are different with personal experiences and their own outlook on society as a whole beyond political affiliations and racial/gender/sexual identities. #SAGrad #SAGradChat

A2. One benefit of working in #highered is being able to really see people for who they truly are. On many campuses, being open minded and having your own opinions is acceptable. And seeing others as human beings allows you to build a culture that supports all students & staff.

Speaking of social media...clean it up now! Hiring committees will look you up on social media whether it be Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Keep these accounts clean and professional. For me, Facebook is more photos for family and friends while Twitter is my professional

Be patient with the process...things happen for a reason whether it be a getting a "no" or finally a "yes". Once in #highered it is easier to move around but that still takes time (2 yr. job search to move from one #AcAdv job to another).

What Netflix shows have you saved to watch those two weeks of January where you’re required to be in the office but students aren’t back yet?

My path was a bit different as I worked on my MSED part-time while working full time as an #AcAdv. It was less stressed in regards to 'next step'. However, I realized soon after finishing my program that there was no room for growth and thus, I started a 2 yr. job search. #SAGrad

PQ: When reading articles, do folks prefer digital or print? I've been pondering the differences & have been involved in other chats about this and am curious as to what folks think / prefer. I gravitate to print version as I feel more engaged wit the reading. Thoughts? #SAGrad
