What the Kremlin is doing with the AfD now is an almost exact replica of what it did with Dodik, Russia's trojan horse in Bosnia & Herzegovina, in 2014. In September 2014, Dodik was summoned to Moscow and "offered" a "direct" and "lucrative" Gazprom deal, - just weeks before the elections. For Russia, Gazprom/Norstream/Southstream were never economic projects. They were and are political weapons. Incredible that so many in Germany are even considering wading back into that river twice.

What I genuinely don’t understand is why russia thinks every country around it has to live according to what russia wants. Poland is discussing producing Patriot missiles on Polish territory, as part of efforts to expand production for Ukraine and European defence. And somehow russia thinks its “military doctrine” should determine what Poland is allowed to do in Poland. Every country around russia is apparently the problem. Everyone is “hostile.” Everyone is “provoking” russia simply by making sovereign decisions Moscow doesn’t like. If you have a problem with everyone around you, maybe everyone around you isn’t the problem. Maybe you are.
