Best book I read in 2025 by a margin. The history of economic thought isn't part of the standard curriculum, so this was overdue. Keynes' wayward life as a public intellectual was fascinating as well — the smartest person that nobody listened to.

The death of philosopher Helen De Cruz leaves a gaping hole--in the world of philosophy but most of all in the life of her family. It's heartbreaking to see Helen's children left without her. Please consider donating or sharing their story. Every bit helps. Thank you. gofund.me/c8f26900e

Simone Weil has so much to tell us about humanity's contemporary and historical issues with roots, exile, and migration. This is an incredible time to read and think with Weil and a group of engaged scholars. Submit your abstract to our colloquy by Sept. 30.

Imagine someone saying: "A parent is someone who biologically produced a child. Someone who adopts a child is not a parent." We can use words how we want & can choose to use "parent" in a more or less inclusive way. Likewise, how we choose to use the word "woman" is up to us.

“As Anora suggests, sex work is labor and a genre. To be profitable, sex workers must act in established genres, performing (male) fantasies of female attention, sexuality, and desire, wrapped in an aura of authenticity.” popmatters.com/anora-sex-wor….

My latest article on the movie that swept the Oscars.
Anora, (Sex) Work, and the Fantasies of Genre Sean Baker's Anora illustrates how sex work – a working-class job – is a dance between creativity and commerce, art and artifice. – @RyanPoll2 READ: tinyurl.com/AnoraWork

Please read Brian Gibbs’ moving testimony and lament over being “terminated” yesterday from the National Park Service, putting a human face on the heartbreak and crisis thousands of government public servants are undergoing right now due to Trump and Musk’s draconian purges:
From Brian Gibbs, a now former exemplary national park ranger.
