Some people push others away before they can be hurt. They think it lessens the pain if the other person doesn't love them anymore. A difficult but insightful perspective. #Relationships #SelfProtection

Bury enough trauma, and eventually the graveyard runs out of room.

Seeing a pattern I can't ignore is like a smoke detector. There's this thing... you can't unsmell smoke. But I'm slowly learning that not every alarm needs me personally running to the kitchen. Some fires are small & some of the mfer'ss aren't even mine.

Coercive abuse often targets depth. That's why neurodivergent people have to leave that comfort and find a new comfortable deep space within the data.

Late diagnosis isn't a new story. It's just finally having the right language... and an operating manual.

So job descriptions are asking us to perform being someone else.

Here's the inside of neurodivergence... especially AuDHD. We used to think of it as procrastination. For a lot of neurodivergent adults, it is actually threat assessment. The task is not just a task. It is the email where tone can be misread so you deliberate over every letter and punctuation. The meeting where your face has to perform and you work so hard to decode others. It's the form with seventeen invisible steps you've filled it out before but it still doesn't land in your memory. The phone call with no script. The opportunity that you worry might become a cage because other opportunities have. The success that might raise expectations until your whole life becomes one long fluorescent buzz. So yes, these things might look small from the outside. But inside the nervous system, they are wearing boots and stomping the living 💩 out of you.

Neurodivergence isn't a mental health condition. It's a wiring difference. The anxiety, the burnout, the depression — that's what happens when your nervous system runs clean but the environment is built for someone else entirely. We don't pathologize fish for drowning on land.

You just described the novel. 😀 An Ass to Die For (Mysteries of Starling Falls, Book 1) is a small-town murder mystery tangled in decades-old grudges, scandal, and Southern charm—with a sharp-witted heroine who’s in way over her head. Would love to send it your way! #MSWL
