Be a problem with Lammens playing there
If I were Michael Carrick, I’d say this is a beautiful problem to have. Look at the midfield options: Bruno Fernandes Youri Tielemans Kobbie Mainoo André Santos Mason Mount Carlos Baleba Shea Lacey That’s seven quality options competing for three starting places every game. Carrick now has genuine selection headaches — the good kind. Then there’s the attack: Mbeumo & Amad Cunha, Rashford & Dorgu Sesko & Zirkzee or who ever replaces Zirkzee Pick your wingers. Rotate them. Keep them hungry. There’s enough quality there to give any manager serious options. At centre-back: Leny Yoro Harry Maguire Matthijs de Ligt Lisandro Martínez Ayden Heaven Again, pick two. There’s quality, experience, youth and different profiles to work with. At right-back, you have Dalot and Mazraoui competing for the spot. So what’s missing? Left-back. Luke Shaw remains the only player in the squad without proper competition for his position. Fix that one problem and give Carrick a genuine fighting chance. This may not be the best squad in the league, but it could certainly become one of the most competitive squads in the league — and, more importantly, one that gives the manager enough quality and depth to actually coach. So, Carrick, what are you going to do about it? Push for a left-back. Give yourself the squad you need, then give these boys a chance to show what they can do.

Anyway, we’ll all go back tomorrow not caring one jot about the national team until June 2028. Happy days.

A long, challenging, relentless year but I am delighted to say I have, as of this week, formally been recommended for QTS and will be qualified to teach secondary English! What a rollercoaster ride. Welcome to the NFL.

I’ve missed a lot of things I wish I hadn’t in the last 15 months because of this injury but today is, by far, the one I wish I had been there for the most. He has brought out the best in me as both an ally and a foe. That’s because he is THE best. When you’re consistently that good for that long, you become undeniable. Sami becoming WWE Champion was inevitable. He has deserved that moment for a very long time and I am so happy to see him finally get it. Now enjoy these pictures of me annoying him at various stages of our careers. The last one is him putting on my sock in a hotel room in the middle of nowhere in Texas because I thought I had broken my back the night before and could not move. He had to help me put on my boxers too. Look how happy he is… Now tell me he doesn’t deserve to be champion! @SamiZayn

Lifechanging is the most accurate word for this
i’ve blocked off my entire evening because my boyfriend is about to go fully blind into a lifechanging experience: the S1 finale of The West Wing (straight into, of course, the first two episodes of S2)

Spot on, hit the hammer on the head. Some absolutely bewildering and embarrassing calls from INEOS’s management group so far - but two years to turn around 20+ years of negligent and incompetent Glazer ownership was always a tall task. Get behind the boys tomorrow 🇾🇪

Arrived this morning and couldn’t put it down all day. Still very much in the infancy of my teaching career but I have the feeling I will keep coming back to this - some fantastic ideas and inspiration especially when thinking about my current school. Thank you @FunkyPedagogy!

I’m already planning to go back over this, highlighting and scribbling in margins. Not sure whether to be impressed with myself or concerned of where my Saturday nights have come to at the ripe old age of twenty-two.
