It's one of Greater Manchester’s most unique traditions, but organisers of Bury's World Black Pudding Throwing Championships have been left with a bitter taste. We reported how competitors from all over the world gathered in Ramsbottom on Sunday in a bid to become the 2026 world champion. Hundreds of people took part in the competition, which has been running in the market town for more than 30 years and sees people take turns at lobbing three black puddings each at a 25 foot high scaffolding tower attempting to knock as many Yorkshire puddings from the platform as they can in the process. And while lots of fun was had by all, things took a turn when organisers gathered for the winner's presentation and discovered that the coveted trophy was missing.
