@RustyWallace won the race at California Speedway on this date in 2001.
The race was held on what would have been Dale Earnhardt’s 50th birthday.
Wallace celebrated his victory on the track with an Earnhardt flag.

Today marks the 40th anniversary of @RustyWallace’s first career NASCAR Cup Series victory.
He started 14th and led 172 laps en route to Victory Lane.

On behalf of my family and our organization, I'd like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Humpy Wheeler.
A NASCAR Hall of Fame Landmark Award winner, Humpy made an irreplaceable impact on our sport and how it operates.
He was a true innovator that was far ahead of his time and he helped nurture countless future leaders in our sport. While Humpy may be gone, his legacy will undoubtedly live on. He will be greatly missed.
