On 26 April 1986 an unauthorised test led to two explosions in the Chernobyl nuclear plant, blowing a hole in the roof of Reactor Number 4. In October 1995 Jeremy was the first Western photographer to gain access to the sarcophagus enclosing the remains of Reactor Number 4.

First photo: The city of Pripyat, within sight of the power plant, and formerly the home of Chernobyl staff and thousands of others, lies deserted.
Second photo: Chernobyl workers pass through radiation checks to and from the closed train which takes them to work at the plant.
This is your occasional reminder that I’ve escaped this wretched place & can be found somewhere far more pleasant @jeremynicholl.bsky.social #Bluesky #socialmedia
2024 is done & so’s this joint, which has become a sewer owned & run by a wannabe Bond villain. My timeline is infested by racists, warmongers & swivel-eyed loon conspiracy theorists. So I’m gone. Nice people can find me at Bluesky & Threads. To the rest of you I bid fuckity bye.

Hi ho ho. Looks like Andrew Neil has outed himself for watching a dodgy screener.
Watching Gladiator 2. It’s pretty piss poor. But intriguingly every time somebody pours a glass of wine the words “alcohol consumption is injurious” come up on the bottom right of the screen. Is this what it’s come to? Are we really that mollycoddled? A film about violence, murder and death warns about a glass of wine? No wonder dictators think our democratic culture is screwed. It’s pathetic. Why is there no warning that getting your head severed is even more injurious to your health than a glass of wine?
