Growing up with a legend as your grandfather does something strange to you. The legend is just Grandpa. To me, mine wasn't the war record. He was the man who made the salad dressing.

AI won't fix your flat tire. Companies are bolting the smartest engine in history onto broken processes. They're not going faster. They're breaking down faster.

Then the part everyone skips: someone has to keep that new app relevant, secure, and connected to the best available models. Building was the easy 10%. Maintaining is the 90%.

Everyone's arguing about whether AI will erase half of entry-level jobs. It's the wrong debate. The floor already moved, and it's in payroll data most teams haven't opened.

So the question for your next leadership meeting: Is our entry level being built to do more, or just to cost less? The first compounds. The second you pay for later, in ramp time and managers you never grew.

Lionel Messi has more assists than anyone in the history of football.   The best player alive wins by making others score, not by hoarding the ball.

1/ Lionel Messi has set up more goals than anyone in the history of football. That's not a footnote to his greatness. It's the reason for it.   2/ The best player alive doesn't hoard the ball. He makes everyone around him score. More than 1,300 goal contributions. The most decorated player ever. He wins more because he shares more.   3/ Now look at the career advice everyone's giving: AI is coming, so make yourself indispensable. Be the one person who can't be replaced.   4/ It's the worst career advice of the AI decade. I learned it across nine turnarounds. Every struggling company had the same indispensable person quietly holding it hostage.   5/ Then AI shows up and does something brutal. It finds the bottleneck. The bottleneck is the person who made themselves impossible to work around.   6/ Hoarding doesn't protect you. Multiplying does. The hoarder's value is capped at one person. The multiplier's compounds across everyone they've grown. AI can replicate the first. It has no answer for the second.   7/ Heroes hoard. Builders multiply. "Make yourself indispensable so AI can't replace you" is the worst career advice of the AI decade.   AI doesn't replace the irreplaceable person. It exposes them. The bottleneck goes first.

Congratulations to everyone who made this happen. 26 years ago I had a vision to start Rightsline. Today it announced a $500M growth investment from Hg and powers IP rights and licensing globally. Thank you to the early believers, and to the team that built it for 20 years. Heroes don't scale. Systems do.
