So fitting to have Grisham, the worst leadoff hitter you could have, go 0 for 5, and make the last out of the game on a pitch that wasn’t even close.

Volpe to 3B, a position he’s never played before, in an elimination game. Sounds about right.

What a crapshoot, Trent Grisham, the worst leadoff hitter in the majors this year, is 0 for 4 tonight in the leadoff spot. What a joke, such non-competitive AB’s. Good job getting traffic in front of Rice Boone.
179
When was the last time Grish was “at his best?” Last year when he had a career year? Hasn’t been the same player all year.
Aaron Boone on why Trent Grisham is leading off: “Just the potential of the on base there and trying to get some traffic created for Benny, Garcia and Belli. When Trent is at his best, he’s got that ability to get on.”

Did not have Grish leading off on my bingo card for Game 3. I better see Big G in this game at some point sooner than later swinging a bat instead of getting paid to watch iPads and scouting reports.

The Rays are by no means killing us. Fried and then possibly Rodon, lefties that the Rays struggle against. Let’s get it done tonight and keep the season alive.
Obviously a huge part of playoff baseball is simply "take advantage of your opponent's mistakes," and the Rays have clearly done this, but they're also hitting .203/.261/.313 as a team.

Alright I’ve finally gotten the disgusting taste out of my mouth from Game 2. Game 3 incoming tonight. Boone needs to shake the lineup up and put pressure on the Rays. I think Cabby, Volpe, & maybe Goldy start. Fried limits the Rays enough to get a W. Show some life Yanks!!

Wow, what a massive development here.
Aaron Boone said he is considering lineup changes for Game 3. The Yankees have scored two runs in the first two games of this ALDS.

I get managers don’t play and can’t hit/field etc, but they 100% can change the lineup and who’s in it to give your team the best chance to be successful. Rolling out the same lineup that got almost no hit two nights ago was Boone’s best bet? Just awful.
Yankees Batters in ALDS Rice/Wells/Bellinger: 5-20, 2 RBI, 2 R Rest of team: 0-38, 0 RBI, 0 R

Common denominator? Don’t lose your division by absolutely going ice cold in June every year and this conversation is different
2022: Lose both in Houston return to Yankee Stadium down 0-2 2024: Lose both in LA return to Yankee Stadium down 0-2 2025: lose both in Toronto return to Yankee Stadium down 0-2 2026: lose both in Tampa return to Yankee Stadium down 0-2

How about deploying some of those right handed bats off your bench into this game against these lefty relievers. The fact that Boone continues to trust his guys when they haven’t proven otherwise and not want to play best available is so exhausting.
107
Boone’s legacy will always be how unprepared his teams are when the moments shine brightest. Same ol Yankees in the playoffs and unfortunately won’t change until he’s gone.

This is a horrendous start. Yanks looking like their defense belongs in the minors

Good thing we pay McMahon to be good at defense….

Who do you think is going to be on the #Yankees ALDS roster?
150
Refreshing to see these Yankees putting the ball in play, making things happen and keeping the line moving instead of the old HR or K. Keep it rolling boys!
120
Not sure why we’re sending Rice there. Two solid hits off new reliever, Jones on deck who hits lefties well, could’ve been a bigger inning without that.

Not having Weathers on the roster is interesting since Headrick hasn’t looked as sharp towards the end of the season. This team has a lot of flaws from a roster construction standpoint, but anything can happens. Let’s get it done!

I get Stanton has been hurt a lot over his Yankees tenure, but at this stage in the season, you need impact players who can change the outcome with one swing. With no Judge, they need a RH bat that can offset all the lefties, we’ll see how many AB’s they give him.
116
Having no Judge hurts but he hasn’t even run the bases yet while he recovers from his soleus strain. Our starting pitching is healthy and has depth but our lineup has so many holes and is vulnerable against LHP. Will need some of the young kids to show up on the big stage!
