Not all games are Destiny and "the duty." is some weird illusion one puts on themselves for thinking they are what keep a game going. You would be shocked by much content creators are simply leeches in reality.

Mikael Eriksson, the game director at Arrowhead, literally says what is good fomo (story events shaped by the community which leads to amazing memories) and what bad fomo they do NOT want (the rest that the players do not like, such as what Arrowhead is doing rn).
