My second tattoo is a reminder of my time ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ด๐ต ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ณ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ด๐ด and my own journey on the healing road. Itโs a Rush โstarmanโ in honor of the man who helped me ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ด๐ต๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ฃ๐บ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ด๐ต๐ข๐ณ๐ด. Following Neilโs death in 2020, I added his signature above the star, in tribute to the man I never met, yet impacted my life in many ways๐
Back to the documentaryโฆ I knew at times it is definitely a tearjerker๐ฅฒ
The first watery eyes came in the opening scene๐ฅบwith Alex and Geddy sharing a toast to their lost friend and fellow bandmate๐ฅ
Then for the next hour+ the documentary focuses on Neil Peart, the musician, the lyricist, the drummerโs drummer, and greatest rock percussionist of all time๐
Watching Danny Carey of Tool play 2112 is incredible๐ค The documentary does an excellent job explaining what made Neilโs musicianship so special๐
Itโs in the final 20 minutes when the tears really start flowing๐ฅฒ Neilโs loss of his daughter and wife, his 55,000 mile solo motorcycle ride and his return to stage were covered too quickly IMHO.
I understand ๐๐ค ๐๐ฃ๐โ๐จ ๐ฟ๐๐จ๐๐๐ฅ๐ก๐ focused on Neilโs craft thru his fellow drummers, but I would like to see a companion documentary called ๐๐๐๐ก ๐๐๐๐ง๐ฉ: ๐๐๐ค๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐๐๐๐ง. It would focus on Neilโs healing road journey and final decade touring with the band๐๏ธ
Hearing Geddy or Alex read passages from ๐๐๐ค๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐๐๐๐ง: ๐๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ก๐จ ๐ค๐ฃ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ก๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ค๐๐ will always bring a tear to my eye๐ฅฒ
Using Neilโs lyrics for โ๐๐ฐ๐ด๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ตโ to highlight his aging body struggling with commitment to perfection was brilliant
Tears continue to flow when his friends share their thoughts on Neilโs final years following his brain cancer diagnosis, but I completely lost it when I saw his beloved motorcycles hanging up on the wall๐ญ

If ya read my Evanescence-Electra personal story (๐ด๐ฆ๐ฆ ๐ญ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฌ ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ธ) then you understand my luv of both comic books and superhero movies๐
I enjoy watching the characters and stories I grew up reading as a teenager come to lifeโฆ itโs my nostalgia๐ฅฐ
I๐Hal Jordan/ Green Lantern
If ya read my Evanescence-Electra personal story (๐ด๐ฆ๐ฆ ๐ญ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฌ ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ธ) then ya might assume I also enjoyed Ryan Reynoldsโ 2011 movie โGreen Lanternโ๐
One of the greatest runs of the Bronze Age of comics (~70s) is Green Lantern-Green Arrow #76 thru #89 by the great Neil Adams and Denny OโNeil. This story arc changed superhero comics๐ช
GL issue #76 came out in 1970.. well before my time.. but when I collected back issues and read those comicsโฆ they opened my young impressionable mind to societal issues๐ณ
The GL series tackled topics such as race relations, drug use, corruption and environmental activism. The relationship between Hal Jordan, Oliver Queen and The Watcher workedโฆ plus GL #87 introduced the John Stewart Green Lantern characterโฆ plus Neil Adams was my favorite artist๐ .. IMHO one of the best comic runs EVER
John Stewartโs race plays a critical role in GL story that takes place in the early 70s. Race relations were different. Oliver and John opens their friendโs eyes to street level societal problems and the Hal Jordan character evolves as a result. This was the kind of literature I enjoyed reading๐
When HBO Max announced a Hal Jordan-John Stewart team-up series, I was hopeful the writers would remain true to both characters.. those characters I grew up reading. Hal Jordan was never a racist back in the 70s and any attempt to rewrite Halโs backstory 50 yrs later will ensure this fan will write off yet another DC franchise๐
Episode 4 drops on Sunday and Iโll watch
Reminds me of the time I met Neal Adams at SD ComicCon to discuss my missed opportunity to buy a rare GL #76 art piece. See Post2/๐
If ya read my Evanescence-Electra personal story (๐ด๐ฆ๐ฆ ๐ญ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฌ ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ธ) then ya know embedded deep in my teenage mind are the images and words of my favorite storiesโฆ 50 years removed, Iโm still able to recite this:

DC Lanterns Official Podcast co-host doubles down on calling Hal Jordan racist:
โAt the end of the day, โMidwest Huxtablesโ is a microaggression, and Hal knew that,โ she said.
โIโve been getting heat because I made this thread saying that Hal was a bit racist, and you know what? I stand by it.โ
Why are these people allowed to take over properties like Green Lantern?

Circa ~1978 Houston ComicCon
As a teenager collecting comics with my father, the local comic book convention was the perfect place to pick up those hard-to-find back issues. At one of such Con, a vendor had an art piece that caught my attention. The vendor was selling, what he said, was a Neal Adams rejected cover for GL #76โฆ the book that changed superhero comics. The seller told me DC editors rejected Neilโs first cover because Green Arrow seemed to shooting Hal Jordan in the back๐ณ
If you read post 1/, then you know my admiration of the Neal Adams-Denny OโNeil Green Lantern-Green Arrow run. I felt this artwork was something special๐ฅฐ
Dad and I collected comics, not comic art. I would have to give up my entire convention allowance (plus some) to buy this piece of history. In the late 70s, a couple hundred $ could purchase a run of Steve Ditko Spider-Man comics or a piece of original comic art. We (Dad mostly) passed on the rejected cover art.
At the next Houston ConicCon, I saw the same vendor with the same art. He knew my interest and lowered his price. I wanted it. I asked Dad. Dad said no.
A Fatherโs logic: How do you know Neal did it? It wasnโt signed by the artist. It wasnโt ever published and the backstory comes solely from a comic con vendor๐คฅ
I donโt recall which comics I purchased in leu of the unpublished art, but Iโm sure they appreciated in value.. however, I never forgot my missed opportunity to purchase maybe, possibly, a Neal Adams original and piece of GL history๐
Fast forward ~35 yrs, and buddy took me to the San Diego Comic Con. On the 6hr drive from PHX to SD, I told my buddy the long version of my collection Dad and I acquired, itโs impact on my family, itโs connection to the Edgar Church Mile High collection and the all the great artists we met back in the day๐
At SDCC, I attend an artist forum which included the legend himself, Neal Adams. As we left the room, I found myself next to Neal going down one of the convention centerโs long escalators... so I had his undivided attention for the next ~40 seconds of my/his life.
On the way down, I decided to get closure on my missed opportunity. I told Neal of my admiration of this artwork๐คฉ then went into the story GL #76 draft cover and how DC editors rejected due to Arrowโs aim.
Neal told me didnโt remember a draft cover and no editor rejected his cover. If it was unpublished, it was his decision. He asked me to send him a photo of the artwork, and he would authenticate it for me. He said to reach him through his website. Neal shook my hand and left.
I had no photo from ~35 yrs ago. I have no way to confirm the backstory. The mystery remains unresolved๐คทโโ๏ธ
Fast forward another ~15yrs to TODAY (last month actually) ๐๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐๐ is a hot topic, specifically the origin of John Stewart๐
To hear Neal in his own voice talk about the creation of the John Stewart character reminded me of ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ง๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ ๐ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ ๐ก๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฑ๐ฎ๐บ๐๐

I admit it, I watch @AmazingRaceCBS
During my tenure in international sales, I traveled to a LoT of cool, AND crappy, places around ๐ The Amazing Race goes to those same places, so itโs a reminder of past travelsโฆ plus provides suggestions for future vacations๐
What makes The Amazing Race an interesting watch is the interactions between the TEAM of twoโ๏ธunder high-stress travel situations
Which team can work together and manage thru the competitions?
A) Best friend Navy Seal combat vets?
B) Olympian brother-sister combo?
C) Father and son firefighters?
D) Newlywed first-time travelers?
Even the competitions have made for the best memes๐
When CBS went Woke 1.0, so did The Amazing Race. Everyone Season required a gay team๐ณ๏ธโ๐ and often times it forced and cringe.
SPOILER ALERT๐
Two MEN, gay or straight, handle high-stress international travel BETTER than two WOMEN, gay or straight
Iโm not sure if @CBS has moved onto Woke 2.0, or if Amazing Race is now making fun of DEI stereotypes for team combos. Team pairings are now a joke๐คฃ
This season has these team combos๐ณ
โข ParentโขChild teams always had a heartwarming backstory story, now imagine how a GRANDparentโขChild team will do in a RACE around the globe?
โข A lesbo team is so yesterdayโฆ why not a team of STRAIGHT female professional soccer players? Plus they can be part of the โBoss Ladyโ alliance ๐ Hilarity ensues when โthe allianceโ attempts to read a map ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
โข For a straight married couple to be selected as contestants they must have a compelling backstory, so whatโs more interesting than a dominated wife and her cuck husband? Seriously! Some guy sold out his manhood for clicks or even worse๐ซ
Itโs so bizarre, the show didnโt edit out the โlost his ballsโ joke by the stereotypical โsouthern teamโ๐คฃ

A month ago I provided my initial thoughts on the DC series ๐๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
As someone who grew up reading Green Lantern comics, Iโm knowledgeable on the GL characters and Lantern Corp mythology๐ค
Not every superhero TV series or movie has to adhere to old comic book storylines or established characters traits/flawsโฆ but todayโs writer should (at the very least) create a story thatโs interesting and makes senseโฆ unfortunately, HBO Max ๐๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐๐ failed to meet this basic requirement๐คฆโโ๏ธ
From my earlier Ep1-3 review๐ Iโd hoped ๐๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐๐ wouldnโt make Hal Jordan a dislikable racistโฆ but the series writers justified their character assassination bcuz Hal was โan old white guyโ๐คจ
The worst part of the ๐๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐๐ Season 1 was the poor writing and plot holes๐
- the ring needs a recharge, unless itโs tapped once, then itโs good to create Halโograms and engage is some cosmic travel before attending a high school football game๐คทโโ๏ธ
- why didnโt the Lantern hateโn citizens of small town Nebraska destroy the the GL Batlight? .. and how did Guy Gardner ever see it once activated?
- writers decided the black GL would get the ring once held by the magenta GL (Abin Sur) by giving the white GL a beat down, then steal it via grave robbing๐ณ
That said, here my review of the complete Season 1 of ๐๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Always enjoy watching the superheroes I grew up reading still being talked about 50 years later๐ The best part of ๐๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐๐ is the comicbook geek debates on the the future of James Gunnโs DC universe, the best GL*, and the criticism of woke DEI writers๐
I used to be in the minority of those who enjoyed watching Ryan Reynoldsโ classic take on ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฃ ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ง๐ฃ/ Hal Jordan๐
โฆ after watching ๐๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐๐, now GL fans can debate whether Kyle Chandler was โthe better Halโโฆ or was the DeadPool2 post-credit scene misplaced?
Unfortunately Hal Jordan was accidentally shot and killed off in Season 1, so the only Kyle Chandler we might get in a possible Season 2 will be flashbacks and Halโograms
If there is a Season 2๐hope the new mgmt at Skydance finds better writers bcuz they now have a true GL villain in Sinestro๐
