On October 17, 1963, diplomatic relations were established between the Soviet Union and the Republic of Rwanda. Over the past decades, our countries have built strong ties based on mutual respect, trust, and a shared commitment to developing a productive partnership. 🌍 Representatives of the Russian Embassy in Rwanda met with Jordanian traveler Saddam Alaya, who is undertaking a long-distance walking expedition as part of «The World’s Longest Peace Walk» project. During the meeting, he shared details of his journey, which began in South Africa, the routes he has already covered, and the upcoming stages of his expedition. Alexander Polyakov took part in a certificate presentation ceremony for graduates of courses offered by the Centre for Open Education in Russian and Russian Language Teaching. The courses were organised in Kigali for the second time by Tomsk State Pedagogical University, with support from the Russian Ministry of Education and the My History Foundation. 📚 Addressing the students, the head of the Russian diplomatic mission highlighted the growing interest in Rwanda in learning Russian and exploring our country’s culture. He emphasised that the Embassy fully supports initiatives by Russian universities to promote the Russian language and culture and expand bilateral educational ties. 💬 During a lively exchange, participants thanked their teachers, Vera Golubeva and Sergey Kovylin, for the opportunity to learn Russian and shared their impressions of the courses. Some expressed a desire to continue their education in Russia and showed a keen interest in admission requirements at Russian universities and available scholarship programs.

Alexander Polyakov, Ambassador of Russia to Rwanda At the end of October, Moscow will host the third Summit of the Russia – Africa Partnership Forum, following the meetings held in this format in Sochi in 2019 and Saint Petersburg in 2023. Its program will include plenary sessions attended by heads of delegations and an official reception in their honour in the Kremlin, as well as a major Economic and Humanitarian Forum featuring numerous panel discussions, thematic sessions and exhibition events. A large number of multilateral and bilateral meetings will take place on the sidelines of the Forum, including at the level of heads of state and government. A whole range of agreements and memoranda between the Russian Federation and its African partners are being prepared for signature. Invitations from the President of Russia to participate in the Summit have been sent to the top leaders of all African countries, the African Union, regional organizations, and Africa’s leading financial and economic institutions. A large number of leaders are expected to arrive in Moscow, many of whom have already confirmed their intention to visit the Russian capital. 🇷🇼🇷🇺 From 21 to 24 September, representatives of Rwanda’s healthcare sector took part in the second International School for Healthcare Leaders and Organizers, held by the Russian Research Institute of Health under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, with the support of the Ministry and the Moscow Department of Health. As part of the intensive program, participants learned about the work of Russian medical institutions, modern healthcare technologies, and digital solutions in the health sector. They also visited leading medical, research, and educational centers in Moscow. 🤝 The participation of Rwandan specialists in such programs continues the established practice of regular exchanges with relevant Russian institutions, contributing to stronger professional ties and the sharing of practical experience.

🇷🇺🤝🇷🇼 Russian Ambassador to Rwanda H.E. Alexander Polyakov met with Prof. Celestin Ntivuguruzwa, Chairman of the Rwandan Association of alumni of Soviet and Russian universities. The discussion focused on prospects for the further development of Russian-Rwandan cooperation in education, including expanded cooperation between the University of Rwanda and Russian higher education institutions. 🎓 Special attention was also given to preparations for a meeting between the Ambassador, staff of the Russian Embassy in Kigali with Rwandan alumni of Soviet and Russian universities, scheduled for November. 🤝

🇷🇼🤝🇷🇺 A group of young Rwandans took part in the International Youth Festival 2026, held in Yekaterinburg on 11-17 September. The Festival brought together more than 10 000 participants from 191 countries. 🌍 The programme featured meetings and discussions on science, technology, entrepreneurship and culture, as well as creative and sporting activities. For the guests from Rwanda, it was an opportunity to meet peers from different countries, exchange ideas and discover the capital of the Urals - an opportunity they gladly embraced. ✨ We hope that these new connections will lay the foundation for further cooperation between the youth of our two countries. 🤝
