This bit of dialogue is a little less harsh than the EN version, yes, though there are plenty later that were actually softened. If I had to compare, his language overall is pretty much how Togami talked to Naegi in the first game.

He didn't call him a nobody, he said Hajime doesn't have anything he could call a talent, but he had forgotten that, and Hajime said "if there really is nothing(...)" (nothing refers to talent). he isn't really using actual insults other than mentioning the reserve course here

There’s a lot of dialogue in DR2 that is needlessly awkward, so if there’s something to compliment here, it’s that these lines didn’t read like MTL (ok a bit hyperbolic)

Not that loc is easy in any regard, or that I’m some translating expert, but more attention being put into each character’s idiolect and the fact that the target language is English would’ve been preferred

Yeah idk why people think they just unilaterally hate him. Plus, I think the cast member who likes him the least is actually Akane, who never worries about him, only has bad things to say about him, and nearly kills him lol

There are plenty of anecdotes that prove that a chunk of the cast genuinely don't hate Komaeda, and don't wish for him to be left out and care for his presence, even if it's simply courtesy. Surely they wouldn't bother inviting someone they hate and think is dangerous
