Music theory for programmers

I can't play an instrument, so I worked out music theory in JavaScript instead. Twelve notes, scales and chords, derived from scratch with code you can hear.

I can't play an instrument, so I figured out music theory in JavaScript instead. I now understand why there are 12 notes and why notes in the same key sound good 🎶 I've written up my findings with code examples you can run and hear.

If you dreamt about lightweight JS editor to run code immediately as you type and browser console isn’t quite handy, I’d recommend this one, nice tool for sketching fast and working locally on your computer (so you can do some sketching offline) runjs.app/

This why I love RunJS because all you have to do is pick you package and start typing and it will automatically run the code. Nice for testing things out before you go through the entire setup 😎
