The Rare Breeds Survival Trust has warned that vaccination levels remain below 50% in many rare breeds, with some below 20%. It has now written to Defra calling for smaller vaccine packs and clearer guidance on vaccine sharing, warning that the disease could threaten the survival of some of Britain's rarest native livestock breeds. As climate changes, the time of year when cattle are exposed to liver fluke is also changing. Timing of infection is less predictable. Do not treat at a historic fixed point each year - do diagnostic monitoring to identify if and when treatment is required

Think it's too risky to vaccinate in-lamb or in-calf animals? BTV-3 vaccines can be used during pregnancy, it's bluetongue itself that poses the real risk. 🗣️Speak to your vet about the best time to vaccinate. For more information on bluetongue: bit.ly/4fTqOiL
