Earlier today, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hon. @norbertmao, officially opened the Symposium on Copyright and Related Rights Management under the theme “Empowering Creativity: Harnessing IP for Sustainable Development in Africa.” The symposium is organised by the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in collaboration with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).

This afternoon, Hon. @norbertmao, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, officiated at the opening of the Great Lakes Regional Conference on Localization and Integrated Mental Health, Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), and Peacebuilding, held at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort, Kampala. The minister also delivered the keynote address, reflecting on Uganda’s journey from conflict to recovery and the importance of strengthening community led approaches to healing, reconciliation, and sustainable peace. Held under the theme “Beyond Specialist Care: Community-Based Socio-Therapy as the Future of Sustainable MHPSS and Peacebuilding,” the conference brings together key stakeholders from across the Great Lakes region to explore practical approaches to mental health support, community resilience, and peacebuilding. The conference underscores the importance of empowering communities to overcome the legacies of conflict, rebuild trust, and foster lasting peace and social cohesion.

At the sidelines of the International Justice Summit in Istanbul, Türkiye, The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hon. @norbertmao, held a bilateral meeting with his counterpart, Hon. Guillaume Ngefa Atondoko Andali, Minister of State for Justice and Keeper of the Seals of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The two ministers discussed matters of mutual interest, including mutual legal assistance, the exchange of sentenced persons, extradition, and wider judicial cooperation. Hon. Mao thanked the Government of the DRC for permitting the Uganda People’s Defence Forces to conduct Operation Shujaa, the joint operation with the FARDC against the ADF in eastern Congo.
