It is quite odd that all errors from NYT to WaPo are always tilted in the same direction. Surely errors should have a normal distribution
We have appended an Editors' Note to a story about Mohammed Zakaria al-Mutawaq, a child in Gaza who was diagnosed with severe malnutrition. After publication, The Times learned that he also had pre-existing health problems. Read more below.

ALT Children in Gaza are malnourished and starving, as New York Times reporters and others have documented. We recently ran a story about Gaza’s most vulnerable civilians, including Mohammed Zakaria al-Mutawaq, who is about 18 months old and suffers from severe malnutrition. We have since learned new information, including from the hospital that treated him and his medical records, and have updated our story to add context about his pre-existing health problems. This additional detail gives readers a greater understanding of his situation. Our reporters and photographers continue to report from Gaza, bravely, sensitively, and at personal risk, so that readers can see firsthand the consequences of the war.

Spread far and wide.
Washington Post forced to publish a correction after being challenged for its false claims about Indian media’s coverage of Operation Sindoor.
Admits the article contained several errors: omitted attribution, misstated origin, even claimed things that never even happened! (Eg: incorrectly said that TV Bharatvarsh ran that Pak PM has surrendered)
But some people in India were happier to shit on their own media than notice this gross misreporting.

When America tried to patent haldi, Dr Raghunath Mashelkar said, “Not on my watch.”
In the 1990s, US researchers claimed turmeric’s healing powers as a ‘new’ discovery. But Mashelkar, then CSIR chief, fought back — digging into 2,500 years of Ayurvedic texts to prove otherwise.
The patent was revoked, sparking a revolution. He went on to create the TKDL — India’s digital shield against biopiracy of traditional knowledge.

There is no glory in this - a 19 year old girl being hauled off like this by the police across states.
If every person who says offensive things about Hindus on social media was hauled off to jail - there would be no room for criminals.
Kolkata, West Bengal: Kolkata Police arrested a law student Sharmistha Panoli from Pune in Gurgaon for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through social media posts on Operation Sindoor. She was brought to Kolkata on transit remand and produced before the Alipore CJM Court. The court rejected police custody and sent her to judicial custody till June 13.
She says, "The harassment you have done being in a democracy, this is not what democracy is"

These interstate arrests for social media posts (unless it’s clearly demonstrated that it has lead to a law & order situation) is blatantly a misuse of police powers.

This day in Kargil, young Capt Amit Bharadwaj led a search party after Capt Saurabh Kalia's entire patrol had gone missing...... and they too came under massive enemy fire at Bajrang post
Knowing they were hugely outnumbered by the enemy and there was no escape, Capt Amit ordered his men to return to base.... while he engaged the enemy so that his men would not be followed/ killed
Hav Rajvir refused to return. Believed to have said 'bach gaye toh punishment de dijiye Saab. Aapko akela nahin chod sakta'. Both fought courageously to their last breaths. Today is their #BalidanDiwas 🙏🇮🇳

This is the headline in @nytimes. “India and Pakistan Talked Big, But Satellite Imagery Shows Limited Damage”. Readers would think both countries made claims that did not measure up. BUT, the article actually tells a different story that does not align with the headline. “High-resolution satellite imagery, from before and after the strikes, shows clear damage to Pakistan’s facilities by Indian strikes, if limited and precise in nature. At Bholari air base, located less than 100 miles from the Pakistani port city of Karachi, India’s defense officials said they had struck an aircraft hangar with a precision strike. The visuals showed clear damage to what looks like a hangar. The Nur Khan air base, within a roughly 15-mile range of both the Pakistani Army’s headquarters and the office of the country’s prime minister and a short distance from the unit that oversees and protects Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, was perhaps the most sensitive military target that India struck. Satellite images of the sites Pakistan claimed to have hit are limited, and so far do not clearly show damage caused by Pakistani strikes even at bases where there was corroborating evidence of some military action. Pakistani officials, according to state media, said their forces had “destroyed” India’s Udhampur air base. The family of one Indian soldier has confirmed his death on the base. But an image from May 12 does not appear to show damage.”
