Especially important when it comes to our more crazy and ambitious additions which pose higher risks of something going wrong. Having authorship over nearly the entire mission script and encounter compositions makes it much easier to troubleshoot issues when they arise.
To me, being able to nearly recreate a mission from the ground-up ensures that every single piece that makes up the OG mission remains accounted for and understood on a fundamental level, which is necessary if I'm going to set out to further polish and add to the original work.
To give you an idea of the scale H2R has grown to and the workload I've undertaken, every mission since Delta Halo has had nearly ALL of their scripts rewritten from top to bottom by me, as well as every encounter's AI and object composition recreated from the ground-up.

VERY close considering this has been 5 years in the making lol. After GJ we gotta go back and do a fresh polishing pass on all the prior missions, as well as do lotta testing to make sure online co-op works without issues.
Great Journey is cooking great 👀 Can't stream much YET cuz of how dirty and heavy-duty and large-scale the design process has been for ALL the encounters before the Scarab, but I am VERY confident it's gonna culminate into something great for Halo 2's final mission.

stop making stuff up, I never said "complete" and I didn't say anything about master chief

The devs who pushed for releasing and developing the tools for MCC will always be the GOATs. ❤️

I will forever be grateful that the studio developed the MCC tools.
Developing my own tooling to support the mod tools has been one of my main hobbies since the Halo Reach tools released.
The Halo MCC mod tools are fantastic and I recommend anyone giving them a try

This looks like bait but I'll bite.
The community has without a doubt in my mind been a net benefit to Halo and has probably kept things going longer than they otherwise would have.
So much love and creativity and time has been poured into this franchise by online community.
There was little to no chance of Halo's situation ever improving under the disastrously apathetic development setup it has had up to now
We have no reason to believe anything actually good will come from Halo under Activision, but it's at LEAST a system shock to guarantee change

I have a video going up imminently, but my thoughts:
Modern Halo has been an unmitigated fucking disaster for 15 years, even with the rebrand/restructured studio, the exact same problems of 343 persisted with Halo Studios, as evidenced by Campaign Evolved. It wasn't all bad, by any means, but Halo is in the gutter and has been for over a decade
I have a lot of very, very good friends at Halo Studios who I know for a fucking fact aren't just extremely talented, but have the right ideas for Halo that are often at odds with the direction the franchise has gone in, which is something they simply have no control over, and the fact that (once again) genuine talent like this is lost because of the braindead fucking stupid decisions out of their remit is infuriating
As for Activision (and likely Sledgehammer) making the next Halo game, at this point fuck it, why not? Sledgehammer have been the most beloved CoD developer in recent years so of all 3 CoD studios to be taking over Halo, I have the most faith in Sledgehammer if it does turn out to be them
I really hope this doesn't result in the Halo 7 can being kicked even further down the road, but I feel like it will. I doubt Sledgehammer's game is gonna be Halo 7, probably gonna be an "ODST 2" or something similar, hell maybe even an MP game
At the end the day, this has been coming for a long time. Frankly, I'm amazed it's taken this long for such a scorched earth move to be made with Halo, and I hate how many passionate and talented people who have the RIGHT IDEAS FOR HALO have to be caught in the crosshairs, but I think this is, unfortunately, a brutal, yet necessary step for the franchise to try and fix itself
Time will tell I guess, let's just hope this "New Dawn" doesn't end up in a total solar eclipse like the last one
Things that looks weird are actual artistic choices and not the result of some crunched outsourced random dude filling out a blind checklist.
Having just come off of the mostly artistically bankrupt Halo 1 remake, the Ocarina of Time remake looks phenomenal. Realistic render style doesn't have to mean boring slop.
I prefer when YouTubers instantly and abruptly transition into the sponsor segment as opposed to writing a whole bit around transitioning into it. Feels more honest that way. Unless you're like really really endearing like AnyAustin.
This is BY FAR the fastest-growing video I've EVER released in my 14 years as a YouTuber. So happy 🥲
