Roughly one in four leadership positions at large global tech firms are expected to be held by women in 2022.
It’s amazing to see more women in leadership, but tech still has a long way to go in terms of equal pay, diversity, and closing the gender gap.

Be careful of knee-jerk reactions for social good, but if you know Ruby on Rails @RubyforGood has several beginner friendly projects that benefit nonprofit.
One of which is CASA, that advocates for youths in foster care.

I've been playing with making CLI apps a bit lately and wanted to share a short intro to how you can build simple ones that take options and args on the command line. Here is a very basic example using OptionParser from the Ruby standard library. 🧵of 🎞's:

This is why I love helping with the @railsconf scholarship program. We're still looking for Guides to join us.
If you'll be at the conference this year, volunteer to be a Guide and provide a welcoming face for new devs railsconf.org/scholarships

What helped me switch from engineer to PM?
1. User Experience (like "Intro to HCI" on Coursera)
2. Lean (like the book "Lean UX")
3. Developing a portfolio; practicing PM tasks even without the formal title. Both at work and for groups like @RubyforGood

What the internet may not know is that contributors who work on @RubyforGood projects, especially github.com/rubyforgood/casa are essentially getting for "free" (i.e. labor in lieu) some great how-to-be-a-dev tutoring from the project maintainers. It's not a bad deal if you need it.
