I’m being told that Danny Tommo can be charged with criminal damage because the French authorities had custody and control of the boat.
Right.
So let me get this straight.
If, in the eyes of the law, taking custody and control of that boat is enough to say it now belongs to the French authorities, then in my eyes you have opened up a much bigger question.
Because those same authorities are the ones dealing with these boats and the people on them.
And section 25 of the Immigration Act covers assisting unlawful immigration into the UK, with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
So if we are now saying that custody and control gives you legal responsibility for the boat, then where does that responsibility end?
Because if Danny Tommo is being accused of a crime involving a boat that nobody apparently owns, but suddenly that boat is considered to belong to the French authorities because they took custody and control of it…
then why aren’t the people who took custody and control of it being arrested and detained for people smuggling if they have assisted people in getting into the UK?
That is the question I’m asking.
You can’t tell me the boat is theirs when it helps establish criminal damage…
and then suddenly that responsibility disappears when we start talking about people being smuggled across the Channel.
If Danny is going to be held responsible for that boat, then why aren’t the people who supposedly have custody and control of it being held responsible for the people on it?
You can’t have it both ways.
So tell me…

💥 REPEAT RAPIST JAILED FOR NINE YEARS AFTER ATTACKING SCHOOLGIRL AND THREATENING TO KILL HER
A man previously jailed for raping a teenager was sentenced to nine years in prison after raping a 15-year-old girl and threatening to kill her if she told anyone.
Mohammed Farah, of Hurstbourne Gardens, Barking, was 38 when sentenced at Southwark Crown Court. He was also handed a 10-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
The court heard that Farah took the girl to Torrens Square in Stratford, where he drank beer with her before touching her. She told him to stop.
Farah initially stopped and urged her not to run away, telling her he had lost a leg in a motorbike accident. After persuading her to stay, he raped her and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the attack.
The girl later reported what had happened when police attended an address in Waltham Forest. She gave officers a name and described her attacker as having one leg.
Police arrested Farah at his home. He denied raping the teenager and claimed he had never met her.
However, CCTV showed him walking with her towards Torrens Square, contradicting his account.
A jury unanimously found him guilty of raping a girl under 16.
Farah had previously been sentenced to six years in prison for raping a 17-year-old girl in Barking Park. That attack happened after he had been drinking with friends.
Investigators described Farah as a dangerous individual who had targeted an extremely vulnerable girl and used his disability to gain her trust.
