A lot of issues with monopolies come from anticompetitive and anti consumer behavior.
I'm convinced Steam is a monopoly for the sole reason it's been one of the only large game companies that tries to play fair/honest.
GoG also plays nice which is part of why they've succeeded.
For what it's worth tech companies broadly speaking are very high mobility.
It's very normal in tech to switch jobs every 3-5 years to pursue better / higher paying opportunities vs getting a ~5% annual raise.
I do think that's a bad thing, but that's an industry wide problem.

Twitch's Chief Product Officer, Mikey Minty, has addressed the community regarding the ongoing discussion about counting lurkers.
With automation it's important to avoid it becoming a scalable source of systemic harm.
Some tips:
- Systems must be genuinely challengeable
- Systems must not be their own source of truth
- Systems should be assumed wrong and challenged as such regularly in different ways
This is another issue with the muddying of the term AI to mean almost anything.
GenAI the thing spitting out text and images based heavily on copyrighten materials often with neither permission or compensation is the issue.
