🚨 Introducing Lumber+! My Statcast-based hitter skill model is LIVE and FREE to use. Designed to measure talent rather than production, it's scaled so 100 = league average and each standard deviation = 5.
🧵Here's more on how it works with a link at the end:
Lucas Braun is probably a depth starter/middle relief type, at best.
But while giving up a rental outfielder and asking your trade partner to eat some money, that’s a solid deal.
MLB is a very strange ecosystem.
Should’ve noted here the smartest clubs eat the money and maximize the return, but if you need to save ~$1 million to keep your ownership group happy, this is a solid return.
Being able to move Falter’s remaining money and still get a top-10 prospect in return is about as good as you can hope for.
The Braves are sending RHP Lucas Braun (ATL No. 8 prospect per @MLBPipeline) and LHP Carter Holton to the Royals in the Lane Thomas/Bailey Falter deal, per source.
What. A. Season.
Add it to the list!
#Royals fall 4-3 as Kody Clemens hits a walk-off grand slam off Matt Strahm.
Heartbreaking.
You’ll never catch me rooting against the Royals but… I’m terrified they’re going to convince themselves they’re *not* sellers.
A snapshot of where key #Royals Lumber+ rating has risen/fallen throughout 2026.
Folks on this fine application told me they were certain Jac Caglianone couldn’t hit lefties based on 37 plate appearances against them to start the season.
Jac Caglianone up to 14th in MLB Lumber+ rankings. Top-10 Swing+ and Damage+ numbers.
Let the heater continue.

After the final out @CrownTalk_KC and I will be live on the @royals_kcsn YouTube channel for a recap of the Twins series!
Jac Caglianone doesn’t need to be great against LHP. He just needs to remain enough of a power threat to warrant a spot in the lineup each night.
He has a higher career HR rate (4.3%) against LHP than against RHP (2.5%).
Hmmm I wonder if a tight hammy is why … never mind.
Maikel Garcia left Saturday's game with a right hamstring strain. #Royals
