thanks Anja, I thought this was the Irish flag (red turned out a bit orange) and wondered if this was another St Patrick day ;)

Congratulations Adrienne! Getting such a grant must be really tough. Comparing plant and animal development is one of my dreams. I must admit, I am a little be envious ;)

True for PhD applications as well. A honest and informed explanation of why you apply to a few selected labs will get you further than sending the same copy/paste message to a hundred random places...
What's the most important factor in post doc applications? Is it the number of papers? Where you did you PhD? No, it's how you write the email. More specifically, you'll get a reply only if you take the time to write a personal email & explain why you apply to this particular lab

Thanks for honoring Katherine Esau and combining her drawings with modern-day microscopy @GeitmannLab. What an honor to see a #Brachypodium stoma next to Esau's sketch of graminoid stomata 😍! We use Esau's book and her definition of stomatal subsidiary cells to this day!
Katherine Esau's plant anatomy textbooks are still used 70 years after their first publication. See her beautiful drawings placed next to modern plant science micrographs highlighting recent progress in #plantimaging. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/… @ucdavis @ucsantabarbara

Worth reading. Congratulation @andreagomezfe for this excellent, short and eye-opening piece.
#JustIn on Plantae: Gender Bias in Science. In this recent piece, @ASPB Plantae Fellows Andrea Gomez Felipe (@andreagomezfe) and Eva Maria Gomez Alvarez (@eva_ga96) discuss the importance of anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies in the workplace buff.ly/3mlzpRR
