First 200+ mile camper towing trip with the Lightning is just 48 hours away!
I use A Better Route Planner to plan these trips. It’s super helpful because you can really dial in your settings. For this trip, my consumption inputs are incredibly cautious as I’d much rather roll in with too much charge than not enough…
Even with being cautious, a 4 hour trip adds an hour of charging. If I was driving an ICE truck, I’d likely still have to stop once adding ~20 mins total. So towing with an EV adds ~40mins to a 4 hour drive. Really not as bad as many make it out to be 🤷🏼♂️

Just received the 5.7 update of @RouteBetter. Some nice improvements. Especially live data through Android Auto on select vehicles and reduced phone heat while navigating. – at Illinois, USA

Good morning from the frozen tundra that is Minneapolis, MN. Today I start my 3 day roadtrip from Minneapolis to Los Angeles for @TeslaCorsa 38. I’ve been going through withdrawal since my last track day (over 2 years ago) so it’s time to finally scratch that itch. Assuming everything goes to plan, I am going to be making a few stops along the way:
* Day 1 - Minneapolis, MN to Ft Collins, CO
* Day 2 - Ft Collins, CO to Las Vegas, NV
* Day 3 - Las Vegas, NV to Los Angeles, CA
For Day 1, @RouteBetter estimates that it will take just under 15 hours of total travel time, including charging. I expect the subzero temperatures to put a dent into our efficiency but I’ll be sure to check in along the way with all the relevant stats for those that are curious.

Sometime give it a try. I've been testing the premium service of @RouteBetter tied to a ODBLinkCX ODB module. No problem leaving the module plugged in all the time in regards to battery. The system gives feedback I'm looking for that continually updates as shown in the bottom right of the picture.
It will adjust for weather conditions, traffic and more. Did a fantastic job changing the route through heavy traffic in Chicago recently. With this more "Tesla" feel and information, I find making adjustments along the way in driving in order to reach a destination with the best information much easier.
I have not liked the Ford provided system because it fails to update while driving to the destination unless have it re-calculate the route. There is also more information available after the drive in the "my drives" area.

This coming weekend we’re going on a friend and family camping trip near Moab, UT.
We’ll be dispersed camping 70 miles out from town.
No starlink (what’s the point in that), no RV hookups.
With our @Ford F150 Lightning we’ll get to use Pro Power for coffee and cooking, along with zone lighting to be a light beacon at night.
According to @RouteBetter we can make it work from Moab to the campsite and back if we deep charge in Moab with room to spare.
