HOWEVER, what the fuck is happening to crypto marketing? yes, booth babes have always been a thing. and sure, it’s cute when you ask what a project does and a hot Asian girl who doesn’t speak English hands you a t-shirt instead. but where does it stop? first, we had a party at a strip club at Consensus. how is a guy supposed to take me seriously professionally while a girl my age is shaking her ass next to us? then came the whole selling your body thing. yes, the hook is amazing. gg from a marketing perspective. but isn’t it sad watching so many women jump on this trend, even selling their “left and right boob”? and now this. i’m not dissing this specific artwork. as a marketer and a degen, i think it’s one of the best creatives i saw at KBW. but i can appreciate a good hook and still ask what the fuck we’re doing. with more and more literal porn and sexualization of women in crypto, how is this industry supposed to feel inclusive, let alone look remotely serious to anyone with more than 50 IQ? we want institutions to take us seriously. we want more women building, investing and working in crypto. meanwhile, we’re putting fetish imagery next to “wallet screening APIs for institutions.” the jokes write themselves. when did “sex sells” become our entire creative strategy? sincerely, a tired marketer
