Bitcoin Ekasi Student Rewards Update
This week, three of our dedicated Bitcoin students visited the center to spend their hard-earned rewards — while the rest of the group is already off enjoying the school holiday season.
The trio proudly used their rewards at Jabulani Shop, celebrating their progress after completing their Bitcoin lessons for the term. Their consistency and commitment truly paid off!
At Bitcoin Ekasi, every reward represents learning, discipline, and growth. We’re proud of these students for ending the year on a strong note!

Student Helps Community Member With Blink Wallet
Yesterday at Bitcoin Ekasi, one of our Bitcoin students helped a community member download and use the Blink Wallet app. With guidance from Ms Sassa, they showed them how to install the app, create a wallet, and how to check, receive, send, and spend sats.
Simple skills, shared knowledge, and real Bitcoin empowerment in our community.

We're working our way into the local school! Love it!
Today, we visited TM Ndanda Primary School, where we engaged with the educators about the @MyfirstBitcoin_ Diploma and @fedibtc. Thank you, @Modibe_, for your presence and support.
Thank @Rotso16Rotso, for the good presentation

Another fun movie night on Friday evening!!
We screened the @fedibtc launch event, which you can watch here: fedi.xyz/fedi-launch-event.
These social events are a great way to introduce new people to #Bitcoin, we'll definitely be doing these more regularly in 2025!
Thanks for @Sluslami, @Rotso16Rotso, @LuthandoSABTC, and the rest of the team for organizing!

BIG day today!
@LuthandoSABTC, @Rotso16Rotso and @ThinusXpressed had a full day of meetings with important community stakeholders to canvas support for the construction of our new Ekasi Center.
The next Municipal Council meeting is at the end of September and we expect a vote on our land purchase application at that meeting. Support from the local township community will be crucial to secure a favourable outcome.

Very sad news.
If you've ever visited our project and spent some sats here, chances are you visited this shop.
Kwallos Shop, owned by Nosihle and her husband Vuyisa, was the first township spaza shop to start accepting payment in #Bitcoin, in August 2021.

Unfortunately they had a fire accident over the weekend.
A close family member lost his life when the informal building where he lived adjacent to the shop burnt down and caused extensive damage to the shop itself, destroying most of their stock.
If you can, please consider making a small donation to help with reconstruction.
Donations can be sent here, straight to owner Nosihle's @blinkbtc wallet:

This Saturday, on the 24 of August, at our Bitcoin Ekasi Center, we will proudly celebrate the third anniversary of the @BitcoinEkasi project. This milestone is a testament to the dedication of hard work and everyone who has contributed to making this vision a reality.
#bitcoin is a solution for unbanked and the underbanked. We know this from experience in our circular economy.
