First transformer station in Finland has been fitted with concrete protective cover during a refit. New built stations have had these for a while now.

Exclusive: a Hawk T2 getting airborne from RAF Valley, N. Wales. As it rolls down the runway flames appear from the rear of the jet. The Hawk T2 does not have reheat (afterburner). As the jet climbs the flames seem to disappear. The main Hydraulic system is on the rear left side.

According to the Polish Armed Forces, a Russian Armed Forces Mi-8 helicopter flew 300m into Polish airspace for 42 seconds and was tracked by Polish radar installations. The helicopter came from Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave and per the Polish Armed Forces release, the incident is another example of Russia testing Poland’s readiness.

Not post-crash speculation, but important to note there has been a lot of scrutiny on the reliability/availability of the Hawk T2's #Adour engine over the last few years, which has forced the @RoyalAirForce to outsource part of fast jet training to Italy, Qatar and the U.S.

UPDATE: The 🇺🇸USN has confirmed the XV Excalibur fired a Mk 48 torpedo during an AUKUS Pillar II trial which took place on 13th September (Operation BROADSWORD).
Official imagery also confirmed our speculation that the torpedo was carried in a cradle beneath Excalibur and that the trial took place at BUTEC.

Great news for the crew and @MB_EjectEject, who make the life saving ejection seats. But not such good news for an aircraft and training system already under some pressure.
🚨BREAKING🚨 Two RAF pilots have ejected from a Hawk aircraft after a training jet crashed in Wales.
The aircraft was being flown by trainee pilots from RAF Valley when it encountered a problem shortly after take-off on Wednesday morning.
The two crew members were forced to eject and emergency services are believed to be at the scene.
A source said: “We’re aware of an incident involving a Hawk jet. We believe the crew was not seriously injured and ejected… we believe this happened within the last hour.”
The Hawk T2 is built by BAE Systems. It is a two-seater training jet “equipped with advanced avionics and synthetic radar to simulate front-line combat aircraft like the Typhoon”, the RAF said.
It is primarily used by the RAF for advanced jet training and prepares pilots for complex tactical environments, the air force added.

❗️ Informujemy, że 23 września br. o godz. 11.08, na północ od miejscowości Braniewo, doszło do krótkotrwałego naruszenia przestrzeni powietrznej Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej przez śmigłowiec Mi-8 Sił Zbrojnych Federacji Rosyjskiej.
Śmigłowiec wykonywał lot z Obwodu Królewieckiego. Naruszył polską przestrzeń powietrzną na maksymalną głębokość ok. 300 m i przebywał w niej przez 42 sekundy.
Lot maszyny był obserwowany przez systemy radiolokacyjne Sił Zbrojnych RP. Poderwane zostały samoloty myśliwskie, a naziemne siły i środki pozostawały w stanie gotowości.
Charakter incydentu wskazuje na to, że Rosja po raz kolejny testuje gotowość naszej obrony powietrznej.
Obsady systemów obrony powietrznej RP prowadzą całodobową obserwację, pozostając w ciągłej gotowości do zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa polskiej przestrzeni powietrznej.
