Many people were surprised by that Hato run leading to that Joao Pedro goal on Sunday 😂 I wasn’t. I’ve been high on his athletic profile for a while now. I was already comparing his profile to Nuno Mendes back in 2025 — particularly the power and running ability. And just to clarify what I meant by “a more defensive Nuno Mendes”: I wasn’t saying Hato is necessarily better defensively. I meant that his natural profile is more CB-oriented, while Mendes started out as a wing-back in a back five before evolving into a LB/situational LCB in PSG’s build-up.
