Today is local history day. One amazing woman helped to look after Rotherham's. Here is 19 year old Dorothy Greene in 1917 working on Roman finds from the fort at Templeborough. She became Honorary Keeper of Roman Antiquities at the museum in 1946 and was still doing it aged 70.

What a treat to talk to the wonderful children and staff at Rockingham J and I. They listened brilliantly and showed what keen historical brains they had.
Yesterday we had a wonderful opportunity to learn about heritage jobs and careers with Ian from Clifton Park Museum. We learned a little about what the different jobs entailed and then got to look at some amazing artefacts! We made great predictions.

I totally support the National Year Of Reading. We desperately need a culture of reading for pleasure to replace the culture of constant tests in schools, backed by proper government funding. And we need STORYTIME to be part of the school day, every day! (Art @chrisriddell50)

It has been an amazing year for the Museum and learning. From Lumber Junkers with Richard O' Neil to looking at toys and clay and animation workshops and the miner's strike with Chol theatre and Maltby Learning Trust. Thank you everyone who helped make this a special year xxx
