Some coaches recruit to a physical prototype. That's real. But the goal isn't to change every coach's mind. It's to find the programs that already value players like you. You don't need every coach to believe in you. Just the right one.

4 of the 5 are Ivies or a service academy. If you're a high school player with the grades and the drive, that's worth knowing before you build your list. 👇

How your target schools fill their rosters matters. If they’re taking 80% through transfers, that only leaves a couple spots for HS players. Avoid that squeeze and save yourself some time by checking how your target schools recruit ahead of time.

What it means: Lefty → your arm is in demand. Make sure coaches know you exist. Righty → you're up against 3x+ as many arms. Velo, command and fit matter even more.
5
Lefties have the most at the top. D1: 1 in 4 pitchers is a lefty. D2, D3, NAIA, JUCO: about 1 in 5.
16
Lefties are ~10% of the population. But they’re 22% of college pitchers. For comparison: about 22% of MLB pitchers have been lefties since 1970.

Where do D1 transfers come from? The surprise: moving up is rare. Only 3.9% of D1 players came from a D2 or D3 school. Fewer than 4 in 100. "Go D2 and transfer up" is a real path. It's just a narrow one.
