My first ever basket almost done! What are you doing to beat the lockdown blues? #basketmaking am taking it up after those terrorizing classes in primary school 😍🤣🤣

Replying to @otherafrikan
Absolutely not. It will turn many authoritarian administrations into hollow, client states where the US will look the other way and even support as people's lives get destroyed as long as their foreign policy interests are served.

A lot of African people don't seem to realise that their lives just got worse. Not that Harris was necessarily going to make things much better - but DJT is definitely going to make things worse.

New post!
"We came to mourn, but the federal police came to silence. “No permission”...blocking any public grief or outcry. Heaven’s mother, the one who dared to demand justice, now moves from shadow to shadow, pursued by death threats."

The opposition has called for a march from the north to the south, which will end in #Maputo, the capital, on 7 November. You’re all adults and I think you have an idea of what can possibly happen in the country between the 6 and 7, right?! Will keep you posted

Language note:
Aside from giving away the fucking location. "Women who are being beaten by their husbands"
Passive af, and doesn't name the problem or acknowledge the fault. And talks about like an event that just happens.
🫢🤣🤣 this commentary is so off!
Small small sex you want women not be ‘allowed’ to work like right to work and right to use someone’s body the way they want is not in existence!
The questions anyone bothered should ask about non consensual sharing of intimate images.
Then we can entertain the light stories of what’s the motivation of this man, sexual coup where a political failed? 🤔

This is unacceptable. These children went to school today because the authorities urged people to resume their activities, despite the announced protests. Yet the same authorities put the children at risk. School grounds are not battlegrounds! @Martinez_Elin @ZamaHRW @KippenbergJ
#Mozambique 🇲🇿: panic broke out at the Castro Teofilo school in #Tete as riot police, in pursuit of anti-government protesters, reportedly threw tear gas grenades on the school ground.
✊🏾🤎
In Iran, a student harassed by her university’s morality police over her “improper” hijab didn’t back down. She turned her body into a protest, stripping to her underwear and marching through campus—defying a regime that constantly controls women’s bodies. Her act is a powerful reminder of Iranian women’s fight for freedom. Yes we use our bodies like weapons to fight back a regime that kills women for showing their hair.
This happened at Tehran’s Science and Research University She has since been arrested by the authorities.
Be her voice.

Inequities in #education are increasing, especially in regions that need support the most.
In Brazil, world leaders gathered to secure the necessary funding needed to ensure every child can go to school.

I continue to call for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the occupation. The right to health has been completely obliterated and the genocidal acts are a violation of international law. There must be economic, diplomatic and political consequences for these violations.
I call on all @UN member states to demand & achieve an immediate CEASEFIRE. An end to decades of occupation in the Palestinian territory is cardinal.
An occupying power [and it’s allies] has explicit responsibility & obligations under international human rights law.
End impunity!

Israeli troops have besieged the last three functional hospitals in north Gaza, a new chapter in a conflict that has targeted hospitals with an intensity and overtness rarely seen in modern warfare. The AP spent months collecting their stories. apnews.com/world-news/still-…

Today, at Amir Kabir University in Iran Tehran, the morality police harassed her for wearing an improper hijab. In response, she took off her clothes in protest. It’s an act of incredible courage and, at the same time, heartbreaking. I’m deeply concerned for her well-being.
These women are the real freedom fighters.

The construction boom and urbanisation of Mogadishu come with violent consequences like this. You can’t demolish houses and displace people without any long-term solution. Incidents like this clash between Somali forces and a local militia group will continue to occur.
