I was paid 125k for Deadpool Team Up in 2024. It was NOT pushed by Marvel despite a billion dollar movie in theaters. The since fired sales manager would not return my requests. I’ve made millions of dollars in the creator owned space since leaving Marvel. I was working at a significant loss but did so thinking they would at least push the work. YOU control your destiny in creator owned, it doesn’t have to be Image, but I’d recommend a conversation. Never too late to break out.

Whatever happens with Marvel, it may just be replacing one bro culture with another. No accountability, they circle the wagons in service of current corporate interests and nothing happens. Time will tell. But talent is what moves needles. Not execs.

Jim Shooter has passed away at 73. Jim is the greatest EIC that Marvel had post Stan Lee. Unlocked the greatness of Marvel’s Bronze Era. Activated Frank Miller, Walt Simonson, John Byrne, Bill Sienkiewicz and so many others. Took a toy tie in and made it a blockbuster with Secret Wars! So many achievements. Gratitude for everything.
