We’ve spent years making room for nature at Zoho. It’s given us a world of stories in return. Today, we're bringing them to you through Rooted in Zoho, our new website about the life that's taking root here 💚 Come, we have a lot to show you at rootedinzoho.com

Some red flags are worth paying attention to. 🚩 With its striking crimson wings, the crimson rose butterfly makes quite the impression. But those colours aren't just for show. They warn predators that the butterfly is toxic, thanks to the poisonous plants it feeds on as a caterpillar. A pretty good reason to admire this one from afar.

Long before a gerbera opens its petals, it has a little habit of following the sun. It's called heliotropism, and it's one of nature's lovely ways of making sure a young flower gets the light it needs to grow. 🌱

A little bit of God ray magic from our campus ☀️🌿 (Captured through the lens of Sutharson P)
Crepuscular rays, also known as God rays, are beams of sunlight streaming through gaps in trees, clouds, or other objects, creating visible shafts of light separated by shadowed regions.

It was wonderful to have you explore the campus with us. 🌱 The hillocks hold a special place in the story of our campus, and we’re so glad that was one of the things you carried back with you. 💚

What’s in a name? Quite a lot, if you’re a Common Tailorbird. 🪡🌿 Seen around our campus, this tiny bird stitches leaves together with fine fibres to make a pouch for its nest. Even its scientific name, Orthotomus sutorius, follows the craft: Orthotomus roughly means “straight-cutting”; sutorius, “shoemaker” or “cobbler”. 📷 Through the lens of Ragul S from Zoho

First come the buds, then the color, and finally a burst of lively blooms. Calliandra haematocephala changes from quiet, pale clusters to a full crimson bloom. When a branch is covered in flowers, the whole corner turns red.❤️✨

The Chinese hat plant is a curious one. A violet flower opens at the centre of a pale lilac cup, its edges spread wide like the brim of a hat. That’s how it earned its name, though some call it the cup-and-saucer plant.☕️🌱 The cup is the calyx. Even after the flower fades and falls, it stays, growing larger around the fruit. The little hat has a second life. 🌸🪻

Nature has always known how to move through change without losing itself. This film, shot entirely on our campus, is a tribute to that resilience. #ShotAtZoho
